PLAY: Houston/Kansas City OVER
RATING: TRIPLE DIME PLAY

Typically we'd wait to see what happens the night before to fire on games - but there are just far too many ways to win this to worry about it. Let's look at the venue - Minute Maid Park. Not only (aside from dead center) is it a hitters' park, but there's great chance the roof will be open meaning the ball carries even further. The we start at the beginning. Doug Fister CAN be a ground ball pitcher but that trend has been fading over the last year, not to mention that the Royals saw a TON of him when he was in the AL - and of course had reasonable success. Now that he IS back in the AL - there's no pitcher to pitch around so we can adjust for that as well. It took him 86 pitches to get through 5 innings at Milwaukee last outing, where he gave one up (a HR) and three earned runs - when he doesn't miss bats - he gets hit, and the Royals are a very tough team to strike out. AND, this is on turf so perhaps ground balls get through a little quicker. Either way, the Royals get to four runs. I seriously considered taking the Royals as well - and may add them for LT clients - but a closer look at Kennedy said THIS is the way to go. He, too, is in the AL now with no pitcher to work around, AND he's in a much smaller park than he's been (San Diego) where he gave up 31 jacks in 168 innings (home and away) - so now what - the Astros who can and do routinely hit them over the fence. He's perhaps a bit over rated after his great first start - against the TWINS who cannot hit. He threw 109 pitches (that's a lot this early) and gave up 10 flyball outs to 7 ground ball outs - so some of these are going over the fence. Back to Houston - who we've just known forever to not have a great back end - and their team bullpen ERA is 6.11 this season. Not cool. The Royals' pen is good, as usual, but hasn't been QUITE as dominant this season (yet), and they've been used more than usual - we can only hope even more on Wednesday. So, the Astros also get to four runs - making the ninth one a winner.
