Analysis: Should be a battle...Maryland kept coming at Sparty all day and when you have the PG like Trimble you can come back from mid-range deficits of 6-9 points throughout games. For Purdue an easier path to Final with opener over Illinois who had already played two games and then same scenario with a tired Michigan team that had to go OT vs. Northwestern & then get buzzer beater vs. Indiana and ran out of gas down the stretch yesterday.
AJ Hammons is a beast as is big man Isaac Haas but everyone is contributing for the Boilers in the last 12 games. The Boilermakers have won 5 straight and nine of twelve games. This should be a better match-up for Sparty. They'll need to shoot it better and without a dominant point guard like Trimble on the other side they should be able to get back in defense better than they did in junctures yesterday vs. Maryland. Bryn Forbes was ( 0-4 ) behind the arc yesterday and very rarely shoots poorly two games in a row.
A lot of folks will say Michigan State doesn't need this game...they need to get ready for the Big Dance...you would be right...they don't need this game but they WANT this game- The Spartans lost 82-81 in their only meeting with Purdue in overtime back on February 9th in West Lafayette. That is Sparty's only loss in their last 13 games. Purdue built an 18 point lead in that game and Rapheal Davis hit five for five first half three's as Purdue was on fire. Sparty fought back and Valentine missed a Game winning 15 footer in regulation and the ”n after a missed free throw in OT with 4 seconds left Michigan State failed to box out and Hammons secured Offensive rebound for the win.
I think Izzo will have the guys focused to get the win...get the one seed now that Villanova has lost. Sparty by 6-12 in this one!
UPDATE- LINE IS NOW 4 1/2 EVERYWHER....I would buy half point if you can for 10 cents although like I said in write up I think Michigan State can pull away late...but if they're up seven and meaningless 3 goes in last shot you'll hate losing by the hook!!

This is going to be a battle. Michigan State is so well coached, but you can’t teach size. Purdue are just a bunch of overgrown bullies that are just so strong and big. This is a team that is going to get so many easy buckets especially since both teams have played a few days in a row. When legs get tired the longer teams just place the ball into the net. This is going to be a great game. I like the value in the dog. Take Purdue.
