Hondo

Hondo knows Best!

Hondo again maintained his preeminent, but precarious, position atop the tightly contested Best Bets standings by going 2-1 to stay a half-game ahead of soon-to-be fading Steve Serby. Since he is former author of the Mr. Loser column, Mr. Aitch isn’t feeling terribly threatened.

Cowboys over Jets: Gang Green, to the surprise of many, dodged the post-Giant-win letdown against the semi-pro Titans. Hondo figures they saved it for Saturday night at Jerry’s Place, unless Cassel finds a way to rook the Cowboys out of a win.

Panthers over Giants: Panthers coach Ron Rivera says he is unsure whether to go for an undefeated season or rest his players to get ready for the playoffs. Somebody please remind Rivera his nickname isn’t Hesitant Ron or Cautious Ron, it’s Riverboat Ron. Unless he wants to join Bill Polian, Jim Caldwell and the 2009 Colts in the ash-heap of also-rans, he should continue to gun for glory.

Vikings over Bears: According to testimony in Luke Petitgout’s assault trial, the former Giants offensive lineman wanted his wife to join him in three-ways. Apparently, he felt he needed work on his double-teaming technique.

Falcons over Jaguars: The CEO of Chipotle, Steve Ells, issued an apology in several newspapers for all the recent gastro-intestinal problems his chain of Mexican restaurants has caused. In addition, Ells said he is no relation to Ernie Els, who goes by the nickname “The Big Easy” whereas Steve now goes by the nickname “The Big Queasy.”

Texans over Colts: Still coming up short on ideas for a present for that less-than-special someone? You might want to look into the Clock Boy Bomb Clock, which provides not only the gift of time but trepidation as well.

Redskins over Bills: In other commissioner news, Rob Manfred denied Pete Rose’s bid for reinstatement to baseball, saying the hit king hasn’t shown he “has fundamentally changed his life.” Manfred might want to start working toward the same end, considering MLB’s association with the gambling enterprise DraftKings.

Patriots over Titans: The Patriots will give Tennessee a thorough beating similar to the ones disgraced priest Peter Miqueli allegedly ordered up from his bodybuilder/boyfriend Keith Crist, the difference being the Titans won’t experience any enjoyment from theirs.

Ravens over Chiefs: Roger “$44M A Year” Goodell has formed a six-man committee to determine what a catch is. It’s not surprising the world’s most overpaid man needs help with something so basic to the game. After all, he needed another committee to tell him that an unconscious woman getting dragged out of an elevator was the victim of a vicious act of domestic violence and warranted serious punishment.

The latest woof from BarkingMut, aka the HondoNation SoBe Bureau Chief: It’s comforting to know that NFL head of officiating Dean “Cowboy Party Bus” Blandino, who says he’ll be watching and adjudicating “operations” for each play of every playoff game, has officiated the same number of NFL games as 99.999 percent of the world’s population, which is to say, zero.

Seahawks over Browns: If Champagne Johnny overindulges Sunday night, it will be strictly to drown his sorrows after the Browns’ obliteration in Seattle.

Russell Wilson has thrown 16 TD passes in his past four games with no picks in leading the Seahags back into the playoff hunt. In fact, the QB seems much less tense than he was earlier in the season, causing some to speculate he and girlfriend Ciara have decided to abstain from abstinence.

Raiders over Packers: Vladimir Putin had some kind words for Donald Trump on Thursday, causing speculation he was offering up an endorsement. However, you have to think if it were up to the Russian president, he would want Obama to serve a third term so he could push him around for another four years.

Chargers over Dolphins: Hillary Clinton this week insisted to rallies in the red states of Nebraska and Iowa she is not the devil, saying: “I don’t have horns.” Of course not, everyone knows Peyronie Bill wears the horns in that family.

Steelers over Broncos: Peyton Manning, musing about a possible Bronco loss in Pittsburgh, came up with a new lyric to his Nationwide Insurance tune: Soon I’ll get my old job back.

Bengals over 49ers: Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” continues to be a big seller, with sales reportedly growing to more than $100 million worldwide. Just think how many more he might have sold if he wasn’t a pedophile.

Cardinals over Eagles: Donald Trump’s doctor raved about the Repub front-runner’s “astonishingly excellent” lab results this week. Would you expect anything less? In fact, according to El Donaldo, the medical community is buzzing about his sparkling urine and aroma-free stool.

Saints over Lions: Here’s an excellent opportunity to get out there and mingle with the hostile crowds for some last-minute shopping. A little irritation is nothing compared to the torture of watching this three-hour stinkfest.

Best Bets: Patriots, Seahawks, Cardinals.

Thursday night: Rams. (W)

Marc Lawrence NFL Perfect System Play Of The Year! - Sunday

Play - New York Giants (Game 320). Edges - Giants: 4-0 ATS home versus 9-0 or grater opponents; and 8-1 ATS home with revenge versus undefeated opponents. Panthers: 2-11 SU and 0-13 ATS before facing the Flacons in non-division games; and 13-0 or greater NFL teams are 3-6 SU and 0-9 ATS since 1980 when facing a non-vision opponent. We cement the play with this for our Perfect System Club: Play on any NFL home dog of 2 or more points off a SUATS road favorite win if they are facing an undefeated opponent off an ATS win of 6 or more points. That’s because these home dogs are 10-0 ATS in this role since 1980 - winning 7 of the games in straight up fashion. We recommend a 4* play on the Giants. Thank you and good luck as always.

Inner Circle--Oakland + ***AFC Winner of Month
The Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders face off in an NFL Week 15 matchup. The Packers enter the contest at 9-4 while the Raiders are 6-7. Green Bay is on the verge of making the playoffs once again, and Oakland is close to officially missing the postseason for the 13th consecutive year. inching a playoff berth. The Raiders can’t win the AFC West and trail three potential wild-card teams by two games, but they are still fighting, having defeated the Denver Broncos in Week 14 to claim their sixth win of 2015. With Khialil Mack playing like the NFL’s top defender, Oakland has allowed just 263.7 yards per game over the last three weeks and should get to Aaron Rodgers for some stops. He’s been sacked 31 times this year and his offensive line has not improved so expect more today. Rodgers threw for 218 yards last week, failing to reach the 300-yard mark for the fourth consecutive game. Don't count on the Packers defense to be the side that defeats Oakland. Derrick Carr is capable and has the offense to keep pace of a lower scoring game as this game will be won in the defensive trenches.

Pinnacle--Philadelphia + ***NFC Upset of Year
The Eagles are very much in contention for a division title after beating the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, and will be looking to extend their own two-game winning streak on Sunday night against Arizona. Chip Kelly’s men have come back to life to win their last two games against the Patriots and the Bills. QB Sam Bradford’s good play has helped the Eagles overcome their continued inability to run the ball with much consistency. DeMarco Murray has a chance to make good on his claims as being needed in a larger role and should have the big game of which he's capable. If the Eagles play up to their abilities as they did for three quarters against the Pats, they should be able to cause the Cards many problems. It was only two weeks ago when Arizona’s high-powered offense became frustrated on the road against the Niners in a hard earned 19-13 win. That added half point could be the difference as getting +3.5 is the way to go.

NFL PERCEPTION/REALITY OF THE WEEK…Chicago Bears +6
Chicago Bears at Minnesota Vikings (-6)
Each of these division rivals enters on a two game losing streak. The Bears just lost consecutive home games to San Francisco and Washington. The Vikings have had 10 days to prepare, following their narrow 23-20 loss at Arizona last Thursday night, which followed their home defeat to red hot Seattle 38-7. But at 8-5 SU to 5-8 SU for the Bears, the PERCEPTION is that the Vikings are by far the better team. After all, they defeated the Bears earlier this year in Chicago 23-20, are on an 18-5 ATS blitz of their NFL competition, and currently play with the need of holding down the #6 slot in the playoff queue. The Bears are long shots with the #12 seed, and after their 5-11 SU finish of last season, it seemed destined to miss the playoff party once again.

Now consider the REALITY of the situation. The Vikings, though authoring a strong ground game, have actually been outgained by their opposition by an average of 25 YPG this season. Consider also, that they have lost the last two games on this field to Seattle and Green Bay by a score of 68-20. The further REALITY is that Chicago Bears HC Fox has historically been at his best in these roles. Fox is 17-5 SU ATS in December division games, and is on a 12-2 SU ATS run on the road in division games in December. That’s just part of the great divisional history of Fox on the road, which finds him 30-11 ATS. Finally, though the Bears have more losses than wins, last week’s three point loss was their fifth straight defeat in either OT or by less than or equal to three points. In fact, Chicago has had no loss by more than three points or in OT since week 3. Now that’s a REALITY of an underdog that we can live with!
