Perfect spot for the Home Team to pull the upset. The Eagles are the talk of the NFL at 3-0 but this is an absolute horrible spot for them this week. Three weeks ago the Eagles dismantled the Bears. Two ago ago they embarrassed the Steelers 34-3. We had the Eagles that day because Pittsburgh was in a horrible spot coming off hated division rival Cincinnati and had a Sunday Night game up next. Philadelphia won easily and that was their statement game. The Eagles had last week off as it was their bye week and honestly it came at the worst time. The last thing you want is to stop momentum and taking the week off just did that. This young team got to sit around for a week all Fat N Sassy starting the season 3-0 and beating the Steelers 34-3. Now you have a rookie QB as a road favorite? Not for me as even though Detroit is just 1-3 the 3 losses have come by a total of 11 points. It also must be noted that Detroit has played 3 of 4 on the road including back to back at Green Bay and Chicago. Bottom line is Philadelphia isn’t as good as the public thinks and Detroit is much better than their 1-3 record would indicate. My numbers have Detroit Winning 27-20.

TAKE DETROIT +2.5 as MARCO’S 4% NFL GAME OF THE WEEK

HONDO

Hondo knew he was in trouble in Week 4 when he saw he had only two selections different from Dave Blezow, who has been living in the basement like a millennial. The result was a predictable 6-9 with Mr. Aitch and Basement splitting their differences.
Hopefully, a greater discrepancy in Week 5 will lead to more Ws for Mr. Aitch.
Steelers over Jets: A lot of fans have a bone to pick with Fitz, but maybe they should try to pick him up so he doesn’t pick up where he left off against the Seahawks. Either that or the Jets should switch to Geno — take your pick. Regardless, it’s tough to pick Gang Green.

Tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins, signed by the Jets after he told cops who busted him for DUI he had to “take a huge s–t,” is hoping to leave his mark this week at Heinz Field. Pray that mark doesn’t consist of a pile on the sidelines.
Emailer Greg Marotta wants to know if there’s any truth to the rumor the Jets have hired Najeh “Plop Along” Davenport to help mentor Austin Seferian-Jenkins? Under Plop Along’s tutelage, they probably could get the best out of AS-J.
Packers over Giants: You don’t need a stat sheet to know the men in charge of the Giants don’t have any sacks, not if you have observed how they have let whining Odell Beckham Jr. get away with his diva act for two-plus years. Instead of meting out a meaty punishment that might fix the problem, coach Ben McAdoo continues to coddle and spew drivel such as: “I like [Odell] as a salty, competitive player.”
Hondo is guessing most Giants fans don’t like McAdoo and Jerry Reese as salt-free, new-age enablers.
Friends of Joey Doyle are holding their 14th annual JD’s Football Sunday fundraiser at the Z-Two Lounge on Staten Island this Sunday. Joey Doyle, a Cantor Fitzgerald employee who was killed on 9/11, was a huge Packer backer who enjoyed nothing more than bringing friends together for “football Sunday” parties. The fun resumes Sunday at the Z-Two starting at noon with plenty of beverages, box pools and good cheer (for the Packers). All proceeds go to the Joey Doyle Memorial Scholarship Fund, which benefits students at St. Joseph by the Sea H.S.
Vikings over Texans: Emauler Ed Buckmir points out Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly, who lost to Duke at home, could be in trouble if ND loses to N.C. State on Saturday in Raleigh. After all, former Irish coach George O’Leary never lost to two ACC opponents in the same season.

Tom BradyPhoto: APPatriots over Browns: The Browns will pay the price for Tom Brady having paid the price so Roger Goodell could puff up his chest and declare he has protected the NFL shield.
Titans over Dolphins: FBI Director James Comey, defending the bureau in testimony before Congress, emphatically declared: “We are not weasels.” And Dick Nixon wasn’t a crook. And Bill Clinton did not have sexual relations with that woman, Miss Lewinsky.
Ravens over Redskins: Maria Sharapova had her suspension reduced from two years to 15 months because she supposedly didn’t intend to cheat. And as we all know, if there is no intent there can be no infraction. Comey taught everyone that when he advised against prosecuting Hillary Clinton because she didn’t intend to be “extremely careless” with classified information.
Eagles over Lions: News broke this week that the FBI not only granted immunity to two of Hillary Clinton’s closest aides, but also agreed to destroy their computers after reviewing their content, although not any information after Jan. 31, 2015. Makes you wonder: Was the FBI investigating Team Clinton for obstructing justice or helping them obstruct justice.
Comey must have learned the destroy-the-evidence trick from Goodell and the Bill Belichick’s Spygate tapes.
Colts over Bears: The Colts released Antonio Cromartie this week. With all his newfound free time, the father of 12, is expected to do some releasing of his own, although it won’t be known for sure for about nine months.
Broncos over Falcons: Hondo had never heard of Elaine Quijano (D-CBS) before Tuesday night. Having seen her moderate the VP debate, he now knows there is nothing moderate about her — she’s a ‘Crat lover.
Rams over Bills: If Hillary is elected President, Tim Kaine immediately will become a contender for the all-time most rude and obnoxious Vice President.
Chargers over Raiders: William Shatner reportedly will be charging $80 per autograph at this week’s Comic Con at the Javits Center. That seems a bit pricey for an inveterate gas-passer who’s liable to let one rip while you wait for him to sign.
Cowboys over Bengals: Having done the shimmy at the first presidential debate, Hillary isn’t saying what sort of dance she might be cooking up for Round 2 Sunday night in St. Louis. Hondo’s guessing it will be a Pantsuit twerk.
Word is Trump will be waiting for Hillary to have another coughing fit so he can trot out the old Ronald Reagan line: There you go again!
Buccaneers over Panthers: From BarkingMut, aka HondoNation SoBe Correspondent: With Floridians cleaning out bottled water and canned tuna from supermarkets in preparation for Hurricane Matthew, Tampa Bay’s Jameis Winston headed straight for Publix to grab every last crab leg he could find.
Best bets: Steelers, Broncos. Cowboys,
Thursday: 49ers.

BACK ON TRACK
PLAY ON any 1-3 NFL favorite or dog of less than 10 points in Game Five who is off three losses if they won 7 or less games last season and are facing an opponent off a win.

ATS W-L Record Since 1982: 13-0-1

Play On: Detroit Lions

Rationale: Game Five in the NFL season is pivotal for 1-3 teams, especially
those mired in a 3-game losing streak. If they suffered a losing season last year,
they are incentivized to revert back to their winning effort in Game One as
opposed to continuing their losing ways when they are facing a satisfied opponent.

#455/456 ‘OVER 46.5’ New England Patriots at Cleveland Browns 12:00 PM CT
Despite the personnel challenges the Browns have been a rather productive offensive team including scoring at least 20 points in the past
three games. New England’s offense should be in fine form this week off a shutout loss and with the highly anticipated return of Tom Brady.
New England has allowed 20 or more points in 7 of the last 8 road games as this has been a fairly mediocre defense and there is little reason
to expect any rust or struggle in the transition back to one of the all-time NFL greats at quarterback. Three of four Browns games have played
‘over’ this season and while Hue Jackson’s record hasn’t been good as a head coach he is clearly a great offensive mind getting the most out
of what he has in a challenging start to the season. New England has scored 31 and 40 in the two games after shutout losses in the Belichick
era.
