OffshoreInsiders.com Senior Sports Handicapper Matt Rivers has a Saturday baseball lock and it’s is on the Texas Rangers (-105) to Seattle.
Reasoning: There aren’t many bigger Felix Hernandez fans than me as the King is awesome and flat out filthy a lot of the time. But with that said he hasn’t exactly been on the tip top of his game this season and today is being backed by his usual dreadful offense against a very good pitcher in CJ Wilson and that quite possibly may mean no runs at all once again for Seattle.
CJ Wilson continues being a road warrior today bets sports handicapper
Ichiro and the Mariners lineup has been fairly awful and today they go up against a borderline great hurler in CJ Wilson. I guess Justin Smoak and Adan Kennedy are ok but that is literally, save Ichiro who hasn’t even been all that at all this season, the best hitters on this team and that is beyond pathetic.
Wilson broke through last season in a huge way thanks in part to Cliff Lee coming over and the lefthander has only improved thus far this season. Wilson is no joke as the 9-3 record shows to go along with that 3.20 era. Yes he blew up a bit in the All-Star game and didn’t have a great last start at home against the A’s allowing an uncharacteristic four runs but this guy is great and I don’t see the extremely light hitting M’s doing much damage here at Safeco.
Meanwhile Hernandez may be very good as the guy is the reigning Cy Young award winner for a reason but he at least has some competition going up against red hot bashers like Hamilton, Cruz, Beltre, Young and Kinsler among others and there is no margin of error for Hernandez in this thing. The Cat has not had that perfect gem no runs allowed start in a long time and to be honest, up against Wilson, that is very possibly what it may take and I just do not see it happening vs. Ron Washington’s sluggers.
It’s tough to go against Hernandez as he is truly that good but I don’t see my guy allowing much of anything and in this scenario with my offense I am just fine with the Rangers at a near pick, just fine!
Top expert pick on this game: Texas from Matt Rivers
