The speech tonight sounded more like an admission of being in over any forecasted expectation...This Iraq situation seemingly will be going on for years more, sadly...

What can we do though at this point, its like swimming too far from shore, and there is no longer land on either side...If the President had to do it again he probably would not have invaded Iraq..He`d never admit it though...

What can we do now though IYO?

I think the triple exclamation mark move (using chess notation) is to admit being wrong and ask the UN to set the direction from here, with the US playing a following role. This should be accompanied by a public pledge to never act unilaterally again. That would shift world opinion back in support of America which would benefit the entire western world IMO.

The other option of course is to dismantle the UN and put someone like captain #5 in charge of clean-up activities.

Anything in between would just make the mess bigger and bigger.

Nations do what is in their best interests. It was in France, Germany and Russia's best interests to keep Saddam in power to collect billions of his oil money, and it was in the United States best interests to take out Hussein before it was too late.

Here's a tip to find out what Bush can do in Iraq. How about quit listening to our national media, and find out what the Iraqis themselves are saying? Is that too difficult to do, or are some just happy spitting out what the biased press thinks? Browse some of these blogs, then make an argument.

Bush should let the army do their job and stop teling them where they cant go or shoot - in short we need an "iron fist" approach. this is guaranteed to work!

Jman-what are you talking about? The United States got rid of one of the most evil regimes in world history. And now, we're moving forward and establishing democracy. So just what the hell are you talking about? Just because some minority militants don't want that democracy, then everything's a failure? Please explain.

My best advice, is that Bush pulls out of Iraq ASAP. Regarding the militants, kill them all!!!!!!!!

No geneva convention, and forget human rights.

Things aren't half as bad as the NY Times,CBS and Al Jeezera would like you to believe...and the most despicble aspect about it is all about a political agenda.

You are so right patriot, its all about politics, they hate bush so much they want us to lose - imagine that. it just shows how pathetic the left and the media has become. I see 3 simple facts about the war. #1 - its over and we won , plain and simple we won easily. #2 its impossible for the insurgents to defeat our occupation militarily. #3 we can cut and run and give the enemy that which he didnt earn and doesnt deserve if we so choose. - just my 2 cents.

It's comical how left the media is. In the early stages of the war, you would have thought we were losing if you were watching every network except Fox. And now, they want us to believe that all the Iraqis still wish Saddam were in power, just because of a few thugs. They have no shame whatsoever.
