Not sure why, maybe it's because they get the benefit of the doubt from the officials more than any other team in the NHL, be it regular season or postseason. I don't know, maybe it's because Crosby is such a complete and total 'whiner' or maybe it's because Malkin, being the 'backstabber' (hit from behind) he is, has his mom accompany him to every or most of his pro games as though he were still in minor hockey for crying out loud. Geez for that matter it could even be because of the excessive amount of 'rouge' Ruslan Fedotenko applies to his puffy little cheeks.
I really don't know but this team has to be the most hated NHL team ever assembled and there's no 'maybe' about that point!!!

They certainly are very, very lucky... Both wins in o.t. have been off of Caps players...Just before that goal there should have been and interference call on the Penguins on the missed shot and take down of the Cap in front of the net...

A fitting way to compliment the thread---a Cap penalty resulting in a Pens powerplay-resulting in the winning goal!
Unbelievable!!!

Oh and I should mention that in the 5 games played in this series todate, Pissburgh has had 25 powerplay opportunities while Washington has been granted 15---
that's 10 fewer powerplays for the Capitals for crying pout loud!!!!

Last point or remark I'll bring up and one that I think should be mentioned as it's related to the terrible and one-sided officiating in Pissburgh's favor throughout the postseason thus far.
I'm making reference to one referee in particular and that's Bill McReary. Now if we revert back to the Flyers-Pens series and specifically game number two in Pissburgh with Philadelphia ahead 2-1 and about five minutes remaining in regulation time. McReary called a hooking penalty against Jeff Carter for a supposed infraction on Malkin.
As it turned out, Pissburgh tied the game 2-2 and the teams eventually went to overtime. In the extra session, remember now that Bill McReary is calling this game and has already put the Pens into OT. He then calls not one but two minors against the Flyers and hence Pissburgh enjoyed a two-man advantage for about one minute and thirty-eight seconds. Well I don't really have to explain the final outcome in that key game which would have sent the two teams back to Philadelphia with the series tied at one game apiece.
Now tonight who else but Bill McReary called the pivotal game five between Pissburgh (again) and Washington and we all know which team enjoyed a powerplay in overtime (again) in this key game.
So go figure now, NHL referee Bill McReary grants the Pissburgh Penguins two powerplays, in overtime no less and one of them a two-man advantage, in two separate postseason series and they (Pissburgh) of course go on to win both games in OT.
How fucking conspicuous is that for crying out loud?

How ironic for a whiner such as yourself calling someone else a whiner. Does mommy give you no attention.

true lucky, but when you drive to the net and you put pucks on net your going to get goals like that. Its the playoffs and you need garbage goals like that to win. Thats why you put the puck on net things will happen.

And personally I feel the refs probably called the best game of the series. Yeah there were missed calls but this is probably one of the toughest sports to officiate bc of the speed and that happens. You didnt see ovey blantantly slew foot malkin and take him down? calls are missed get over it, we are now w/o one of our biggest leaders and best defenseman bc of a questionable call.

ivan, you are a complete idiot. the pens have outplayed the caps in every game of the series which explains the difference in penalties. the only reason the caps won the first two games is because varmalov was incredible in goal & ovechekin was also great. nobody else has shown up for the caps & they deserve to be down. it's laughable that you call malkin dirty with all the cheap shots he takes from other teams. crosby does whine a little too much but he's only 21 & he will grow out of that when he learns it can backfire on you. whoever said the pens were lucky to win in OT may have a point about the way they scored the winner saturday but the caps were actually lucky to be in the game at that point & in game 3 they were totally dominated everywhere except the scoreboard so luck goes both ways. by the way, pittsburgh has had 43 more shots on goal then washington & most of that isn't due to the power play differential because anyone that watches them knows they don't shoot when they're on the power play.

Call them divers or whiners but Crosby and Malkin are two of the best at drawing penalties in the league right now and that is a skill. Both of these players are so incredibly strong on the puck. If the goal was control the puck without falling down, I highly doubt any defenseman could bring either of these two down. That being said, along with the stellar puck possession skills each of these guys have, defenseman will often but a stick on the players or a free hand in effort to contain them. Crosby and Malkin have the rare awareness of knowing when to fight through a stick or free hand near the waist and when not to fight it, thus drawing a penalty. You seem to think every team deserves an equal amount of penalty minutes with oblivious neglection to a team's style of play.

Piss poor offficiating the whole playoffs. NHL should be ashamed these guys make bad calls and miss obvious penalties.......no favorism towards anyone IMO, just god awful refs.

and............a penalty is a penalty. I dont care if it is in OT or not. Call the damn game.

and......I dont care if the penalties are 30 to 10 as long as they are the right calls wit hno missed or bad ones.
