I was given a list to call some people on it. I will get a referal bonus when they sign up. Is there anything that can get me into trouble.

Gutter- I can tell that promoting any book is in viloation of the Wire Wager Act. That is why most touts will no longer help you find a "good safe book" when you call them as they did in the past. I really do not think that it would be likely that you would get in trouble, but yes you could if someone wanted to cause trouble for you. My advice would to not talk about it here or anywhere if you do decide to do it. For my own curiousity, would you mind telling me which book it is? I know of a few different books that do the refferal thing like Skybook and VIP. They give you a percentage of loses from the players you get. I know of a few people who have been quesioned about it from authorities, but I have not heard if it has led to anything.

Do Not Call act has hurt telemarketing significantly as well.
Yes it has and it is THE MOST ridicolous (sp?) thing I have seen from this government. In my opinion, anyone who is for the DNC List just doesn't get it (I know most agree with it so, I'm sure this will spark a debate but it's my opinion)

Anyway, I have a program here at home that allows me to "scrub" phone #'s to see if they are on the DNC list. And there are some legitimate ways to get around the DNC in some cases.

I am now a mortgage broker but was a telemarketer and ran telemarketing outfits for 6 years.

I'm all for it, I just wish they would expand it so I wouldn't get calls from Bush and Kerry and other pols during voting week.

Then again, if anyone is stupid enough to buy a mortgage, aluminum siding or anything else over the phone they deserve what they get.

Green, may I please ask what you do for a living?

I made appointments for salespeople to go out and sell siding, windows, etc. windows sold for $1000 EACH! and they sold enough to make some people RICH, some people a nice paying job, and some people a low paying job (for a short time with these) i ran rooms where we had to have 50 CONFIRMED appointments per day! NOBODY did anything illegal, so what's the problem?
