Serena with out question #1.

Though I believe Monica Seles would have been my #2 if she hadn't gotten stabbed on court. She dominated Graf in their meetings before that horrific incident.

She was never the same player again.

Huh?!? Graf holds a 10-5 career won-loss record over Seles! Even during Seles peak years 91-92 Graf beat her 3 out 4 times they played.

Graf has a better won-loss percentage than Williams, has spent over an entire year longer ranked at number one than Williams, despite playing 8 fewer years than Williams. Since her first slam win to her last healthy year before a bunch of surgeries forced her to miss many tournaments and into early retirement (87-96 healthy, retired in 99) She was ranked number one for over 7 years in a 9 year healthy career! (Joker the other GOAT is going to break Graf's record of weeks at number 1 and it took him 14 years since his first slam win to achieve this. Graf did it in 9 years) She also collected 21 slams in 9 years, before injuries and early retirement. She is hands down the GOAT!

Graf had to battle Martina and Chris for her share of majors. I'd put Martina ahead of Williams also. Williams didn't have that kind of obstacle in her path collecting her majors.

. She is hands down the GOAT!
good data

(1988 may have been the most dominating yr in woman's tennis. Graff went 72-3, won the Grand Slam and Olympic Gold. )

dont think its that black and white tho. Graf never faced anyone with Serena's power. Record for both in GS final; Serena 23-10, Graf 22-9 ...no seperation

i'll go with this ;

Roland Garros;

Graf -165

Wimbledon

Serena - 165

Flushing Meadows

Serena -140

Id argue it was the opposite

In '88 graf was 19 and dominated . Her two main competitors were a 32 yrs old (martina) and a 34 yr old (Chris ). Way past their prime

Martina, even at 32 was probably still better than any other player in the last couple of decades.

fair point.

9-9 career vs Graff and the matches were all with martina in her 30's!!
end of her career ; '89-94' (age 33-38) she won 29 titles!!...
in her career Vs players who were ranked #1 (11 of them) she has a head-to-head winning record : 8-1-2. Only losing record was Vs Seles .

Great serve and volleyer . Able to remain elite well into her 30s as she shortened points . Kinda like Roger . And she was a hell of a doubles player

Serena Vs Martina ............Centre Court Wimbledon would be must watch tennis

Can you imagine a 34 yr old Evert vs a young Serena at Wimbledon? Chris was a baseliner . 6-2,6-1 and announces her retirement the next day .
