Really like Evan Bayh. That would just seem to produce the ticket the country is looking for in the current climate.

First Strickland then Webb. BO is having a rough time finding someone of substance to run with him.

I agree. I think Bayh turn Indiana blue and McCain simply can't afford it, he has NO margin for error. Bayh would really help not only in Indiana, but also in places like Ohio, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn, maybe Minn, maybe NH. He's seasoned, he won't make mistakes, he's wholesome, he's qualifed, he's viewed more as a moderate than liberal, should appeal to rural and working class, he was a Clinton supporter, he has executive experience, some foreign committee experience. Just hits all the high points. He would be a very sound choice.

Webb doesn't want any part of this trainwreck in the making. Can anyone blame him?

Andrea Mitchell is reporting on Morning Joe that he withdrew his name because he had no chance at the nomination, that he is too much of a "wildcard".

For whatever it's worth, I don't know.

May be the truth, may be spin.

He was the Favorite at Matchbook at +300, now it's +1600. When the smartest rat on deck decides to jump ship, you can be sure a shipwrecks on the Obama horizon. I like Webb and I'm right of center but would have supported Webb over McCain in the general.
I think Obama might be relieved in the long run, Webb would have overshadowed Obama. I'm glad he's out of the running, certainly a big boost for McCain.

I dont think there was any hope for his getting a bid. Good man and a plus for the security minded but some of his comments concerning women were troublesome. Got to keep the Hillary backers.
