WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic Sen. John Kerry urged the White House on Friday to release "in their entirety" all documents and memos from Supreme Court nominee John Roberts' tenure in two Republican administrations.

"We cannot do our duty if either Judge Roberts or the Bush administration hides elements of his professional record," said the Massachusetts senator who was his party's presidential candidate last year.

Kerry is right. He's the SC nominee, if there's nothing to hide then releae it. If there's some classified or sensitive info then fine, have that confirmed and redact it. But otherwise they shouldn't ge hiding shit. If they are, then that tells me they have something to hide.

actually he doesn't plus probably nothing to hide......why should he have to disclose if never been called on before but his lack of writings because the Dems block him for 10 years.....you block the guy and then ask why he doesn't have much in experiance?

Seems to me it's just part of the process. Is this an unusual request?

When is Cheney going to release his transcripts with his energy and Enron buddies? The Politburo is more open than this adminstration!:103631605

actually I don't think it's unusal and most will hand over etc or guess they let Senior Democrats look over memo's etc just to make sure nothing crazy. But I think they only choose a few because some will read into and spin some memo out of control. But again yes it's their right to ask but not obligated by no means

I still anticipate it going smoothly, but of course there will be some political posturing.

He's got plenty of experience, that's not the issue. I don't think anybody's questioning his experience and resume. And this is not an unusual request. Rehnquist turned over most of his writings from similar positions.

All documents that are not legally protected should be released but Kerry is the wrong guy asking. He stonewalled the full release of his military medical records in 2004.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Bush administration does not want to release confidential memos that U.S. Supreme Court nominee John Roberts wrote when he worked for two Republican presidents, a White House adviser said on Sunday.

Former Sen. Fred Thompson, named by President Bush to steer Roberts' confirmation through the Senate, disputed calls by some Democrats to turn over all the documents from Roberts' tenure at the White House and Justice Department.

"The administration's been pretty consistent on that, in fact, I think very consistent, in that (confidential documents) will not be forthcoming," Thompson said during an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press." "Conversations he has with his priest, conversations he has with his doctor or his wife or his client are matters that are off limits, basically," said Thompson, a Republican who represented Tennessee in the Senate.

Kerry may be alot of things but at least we know he served his country in the jungles of VietNam as opposed to the jungles of Alabama and/or Texas-maybe even both places at once!:103631605

Spare me the John Kerry, war hero rap.The plane trip to Nam took longer than his stay in the "jungle".GWB may not have been Gen Patton but he did fly planes...not rode in planes, flew them....just not in the "jungle".Is flying aircraft considered cowardly?

It is considered cowardly where I come from to only learn to fly certain kind of planes that you know are not being used in the war that is being fought at the time!:lolBIG: Plus being AWOL was frowned upon when I was in the service! And W did a pretty good job on 9/11 hiding somewhere between Florida and Texas while ordinary people back in Washington withstood the pressure of a supposed fifth plane unaccounted for. Ooh, I forgot , that was probably the charter plane picking up all the bin ladens around the US. The only non-military plane allowed in the skies-was for the saudis- gosh, who would believe that? :toast:

Everyone knows how the Military now or in the past feels about John Kerry,Dick "Turbin" Durbin. They both wear anti American patches on one sleeve. Side or compare treatment of the enemy and we can call you "Traitors"
