I'll admit to being a SC homer but I really don't understand this line. I follow the team pretty close and the offense should be much improved this year. Last year the O turned the ball over more than just about anyone in CFB. However, this is Garcia's second year in the system and the new QB coach (Mangus) has been working hard with Garcia on making the right decisions. No way the Cocks turn the ball over as much this year. Also new OL coach from Ill. has done a nice job with the line-they will be much more physical. Carolina has about 4 capable backs although none have alot of experience. New comer Stephon Gilmore will get some plays in the Wild Cock formation and a walkon track guy should see some action as well. On D, Cliff Matthews has been all but unblockable. SC has a couple of people out on defense but NC State lost there #1 defensive player. I don't see Spurrier losing this one. Any thoughts?

NCSU is a very good team that was really crippled by injuries last year. And when they got some of their personnel back at the end of the season, it showed. And SC lost some key players on a tough defense, did it not? And those coaches you mention - they are new, right? I don't have a lot of faith in Garcia coming out of the gate. Have you seen him in practices and/or a scrimmage?

Russel Wilson is a stud at QB, 17 TDs and 1 INT in the games he played last year. 7 returning starters on D and they should have a unit as solid or moreso than the end of season last year. 3 starters back on an O-line that was tied for 8th in the NCAA in red zone efficiency.

The line is back down to 3.5 now, so it looks like a lot of people finally took the 4.5, figuring that the value on SC had peaked. Total points are up to 46.5.

But check the back threads. A lot of the veteran cappers here gave some good info and opinions on this game. I want to say I read some people were on the under, but I was never looking to play this game (as I think State will win by an FG and the line is pretty strong) and I don't remember exactly.

In my opinion though, you've got to forget the Steve Spurrier of Gator fame. He's no longer the same man.

Two programs heading in opposite directions. NC St will dominate this game.

Spurrier continues to attempt to make SC the UF of old, but cannot get a QB w/ a brain/arm combination. This will be his worst and last year at SC. SC returns only 11 starters from last year and has to replace there best WR and TE.

NC St improved week by week last year and the 3rd year of the O'Brien era will see more improvement. NC St returns 14 starters and has solid depth on both sides of the ball.

Starting SC DE-Clifton Geathers was arrested Sat. night. Sounds like he may miss some time. He is or was one of the starting DE's. FWIW. Thanks for the input guys-looks like a no play for me as well.

This is one, like Minn./Syracuse, where I think the public will over-react. I may just fade the public in both games...

I'll take SC and Syracuse.

Word is Glennon will be under center next Thursday night. Now I'm certainly not saying that Wilson is not starting, but it seems as though the NCSU staff wants to get Glennon more snaps in light of Wilson possibly leaving early to play pro baseball. Basically it sounds like NCSU will be running a lot of both QBs. Just FWIW...

Garcia is a knucklehead who will continue to make bad decisions, probably for the rest of his life. However, I will take my chances with him against a Wolfpack defense that was absolutely horrendous when Irving was hurt last year. Small play on USC & over.

A lot of good vibes coming out of NCS camp about the O-line and the offense in general. USC has seen some attrition on the defensive front in fall camp with starting DE Geathers arrested and injured from a nightclub incident and DT Ladi Ajiboye (2 year starter) serving a weed-related suspension for the first 3 games.

I think that if SC struggles getting into the backfield their young secondary could be in for a very long night against what should be a prolific passing game. State will rotate QB's in this game regardless of score, espeically early, so I imagine they will show SC a lot of different looks. I like the Gamecock LB's but to me its very tempting to take the much bettter offense @ Home laying a short number, especially in a revenge situation..
