Great week so far and looking to keep it going today!!! Let me know what you think about todays selections:

7 Units Tennessee U -21 -101 (WON 48-0)

Last week, Tennessee finally broke open the flood gates by destroying Mississippi State 59-21 SU. Tennessee became particularly fired up as one of the players' family was tragically killed in a car accident on the way to the game. The player decided to stay and play the game before leaving to address this horrible accident. This terrible ordeal should galvanize the Vols the rest of the way. Last week, Vanderbilt (2-9 SU, 6-4 ATS) finally stuck it to someone by beating Kentucky easily 28-17 SU. None of this matters in this game. The only question for this game is will Vandy score. The past two games and 3 out of the last 4, Vandy has been shutout. Tennessee has easily won the last 10 games SU and this will be 11. The Vols are still right in the middle of the SEC East and the awful tragedy involving one of its players will rally the Vols at home to crush Vandy!!!

5 Units Kansas State -14.5 -103 (LOST 24-14)

QB Brad Smith rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns Saturday as Missouri (6-3 SU, ATS) coasted to a 45-22 victory over Texas A&M. Zack Abron added 141 yards for his fourth 100-yard effort of the season. The Tigers rushed 48 times for 362 yards, their second strongest showing of the season. Kansas State (7-3 SU, 5-5 ATS) has won 10 straight against Missouri and should be flying high after blasting Nebraska 38-9 on Saturday. Ell Roberson overcame three interceptions to complete 15-of-28 passes for 313 yards. He also rushed for 90 yards on 22 attempts as Kansas State rolled up 561 yards on total offense. Zack Abron added 141 yards for his fourth 100-yard effort of the season. Kansas State has won five in a row since a three-game slide and can clinch the Big 12 Conference North title and a date in the league title game with Oklahoma with a win over Missouri, so expect their running game to make that happen!!!

5 Units Oklahoma State -27 -109 (LOST 38-21)

The Cowboys (7-3 SU, 6-4 ATS) were a 44-21 victor over Kansas on Saturday as back-up Vernard Morency rushed for a career-high 269 yards and three touchdowns in place of the injured Tatum Bell as the Cowboys rolled. Josh Fields completed 14-of-21 passes for 190 yards with a touchdown and interception for the Cowboys as they rebounded nicely following a couple of nasty losses to Oklahoma and Texas. The Bears have become merely fodder for the Big XXII elite and get to play that roll again on Saturday after an ATS win over Oklahoma 41-3 as a 53-point dog. Oklahoma State's only weakness is defense, but Baylor can't score. Ok-State averages 36 points, 221 yards rushing and 186 yards passing per game behind QB Fields and WR Rashaun Woods. Oklahoma State is 4-0 SU/3-0-1 ATS against Baylor the last four years, including a 63-28 win in 2002. Look for big numbers once again this week --- but from the visitors!!!

7 Units Washington State -7 -110 (LOST 19-27)

A lot of the luster is off the annual Apple Cup battle this year, thanks to Washington's stunning late season nose dive. It's one thing to lose to a very underrated Cal squad, but to be completely overwhelmed by 43 points is quite another thing. Also on Washington's resume...a loss to cellar dweller Arizona! The Huskies have now twice been beaten by 30 points or more this year and while that won't happen a third time, especially at home vs. their most hated rival, a loss should be expected. This team has quit, especially the defense, and this week they will face the second best defense in the Pac 10. And while WSU's starting quarterback, Matt Kegel, is still not 100%, his talented backup, Josh Swogger, showcased his immense upside by going 14 of 20 for 207 yards and a score vs. Arizona St. Even a lackluster Courgar overland game should get healthy vs. a Husky front 7 that surrendered 381 rushing yards to Cal last Saturday!!!

3 Units Oregon State -3 -103 (LOST 20-34)

According to the posted line and respective Pac 10 and overall records, these two rivals appear to be evenly matched. They're not. Last week the Ducks blasted UCLA 31-13 suggesting maybe they had resolved some of their season-long offensive woes just in time for this in-state showdown. In the previous six games, the Ducks attack had been limited to 16 points or less four times. But a closer look at last week's victory suggests differently. Oregon had just 13 first downs in that game and only 45 yards rushing, and only 228 yards overall. UCLA turnovers led to a pair of touchdowns and the Ducks also got a kickoff return for a score. Oregon St.'s 43-3 rout of Stanford was, on the other hand, quite legit. How about a 29-8 advantage in first downs and a 663-157 yardage edge. The Beavers own the best quarterback on the field (Anderson), the best back (Jackson), and far and away the best defense. A one sided "Civil War."

More to come later

Aloha Allstar,

Well, I can say for sure who is focused on this game and who is not. Hawaii cant afford to take any chances as they need this win, no if ands or but about it. They cant afford to look ahead to next week and Alabama.

Army, on the other hand, is living it up here. Don't be buying into all the armed forces being disciplined mumble jumble. Though that is somewhat true, it is not happening here and not this week. Army is on vacation. If any focus is being wasted by them , it is definately for next weeks game against Navy.

This game all points to blowout, but so did the other games. All I know, is that the boys know that they need a win and that is what they they will get.

ADDING FINAL PLAYS

Here they are:

5 Units Texas Tech +19.5 (LOST 25-56)

The Sooners (11-0 SU, 5-6 ATS) continue to cruise towards a Big XXII Championship game and the BCS title following a 41-3 win over hapless Baylor on Saturday. Jason White threw four touchdown passes, including three in a 24-point first quarter as the Sooners did just about anything they wanted in keeping the Bears out of the end zone in posting their 13th straight win. Texas Tech (7-4 SU, 8-3 ATS) missed a game tying field goal wide left on a 48-yard attempt as time expired in the thrilla from College Station won by Texas 43-40 Saturday. B.J. Symons kept the game close as he rallied the Red Raiders from a 35-21 deficit late in the third quarter, completing 32-of-56 passes for 365 yards and three TDs. Tech lost 60-15 a year ago and will be game, but the Sooners have game as their BCS Title march continues. Should be a lot of passes and a lot of points, too. Texas Tech just hangs in the number of this one!!!

5 Units California -10.5 (WON 28-16)

Other than USC, no one in the Pac 10 is playing better football than the California Golden Bears. Three wins in their last four games, with routs of 28, 28 and 47 points! And last week's victory over Washington might have been their best effort of the year, even more impressive than their upset of USC. Playing without top running back A. Echemandu, Cal turned to backups J.J. Arrington, Marcus O'Keith and Michael Porter last week and all that trio did was gain 361 yards only 29 carries......that's better than 12 yards a pop! Not to be overshadowed, Aaron Rodgers throws for 348 yards and 3 scores, completing 20 of 33 passes. Stanford meanwhile, comes off a physical bashing at Oregon St, a game in which they were outgained 663-157. The Bears are a hurting a bit on the defensive side of the ball, but Stanford isn't a likely candidate to take advantage. After all, the Cardinal "O" has been held under 20 points in more than half their games this year. Plenty of incentive for the visitor, too, as a victory gives them a winning season at 7-6 and prior to last year's 30-7 thumping, the Bears had lost 7 consecutive "Big Games".

7 Units Air Force -4 (3-3 @ HALF)

The Aztecs almost parlayed a gutsy effort at Fort Collins last week into an outright upset. SDSU came into the game battered and bruised without the services of leading rusher Lynell Hamilton, (out for the season), and leading receiver Jeff Webb. Yet with 9 minutes left in the game, thanks to the "Darkside Defense", the Aztecs were within a point, trailing 7-6. CSU used two plays of 40-plus yards in the final 9 minutes to pull away to the 21-6 win. More bad news for SDSU -- QB Hall injured his hand last week and is not expected to play against Air Force. The line looks a little short this week when you combine the missing parts from the SDSU offense with the lack of a true home field advantage...with the lack of a chance for a postseason berth, and an Aztec defense that has shown no answer whatsoever in recent tries for the Air Force option attack! The Aztec offense has been held to 7 points or less in 4 of their last 5 games, and the defense will be worn down throughout this affair. The Falcons can still wind up with an 8-4 mark with a win here and should do so without a lot of resistance.

Good Luck Tonight My Friends

Allstar, you got an opinion on the SFlorida game. They need to win this one and then the next in order to go bowling. Do have an opinion on them against UAB, I haven't been following either of them, except for when Cincy came to SFlorida and lost a close one. SFlorida's home field very hard place to win at. What do you think?

Here is what what have in my notes:

Conference USA battle featuring lots of great defense, so don't look for a lot of scoring. UAB (4-6 SU, ATS) wins with ball control and defense, scoring 19 ppg while allowing 21.5 points pg under first-year defensive coordinator Wayne Bolt. The offense is without sophomore QB Darrell Hackney (thumb injury) and freshman QB Chris Williams has taken over. South Florida (6-3 SU, 3-4 ATS) has a young offense and a tough defense. The Bulls have a balanced offense (137 yards rushing, 183 passing yards per game) that is averaging 26 points pg. They are not as explosive offensively as last season, and they've used two QBs the last few weeks. Freshman Pat Julmiste has stepped in at times for Ronnie Banks, who has been up and down. UAB is 3-1 UNDER the total on the road, while South Florida is 4-1 SU, 2-1-1 ATS at home allowing 16 ppg.

15 Units Hawaii -26.5 -110

This has blowout written all over it, and not just because the point spread says so. Army is winless (0-11) with no offense and a defense that's even worse. The Cadets have shuffled QBs all season and nothing has worked. The offense averages 10 points per game on the road and has tallied just 9, 3 and 14 the last three games. Army is giving up 34.8 points per game and has to take on a Hawaii offense that throws the ball nearly every down. Hawaii doesn't have much defense, but that won't matter here. What Hawaii has is QB Timmy Chang and a passing game that averages 373 yards and 30.8 points per game!!! Hawaii often struggles on the road because of the long flights, and notice they're home after playing three of four in the States. After getting just 14 and 13 points the last two games (on the road) look for the speedy home team to use artificial turf and a high-octane offense to get a big win. And don't forget this is a very long road trip for winless Army!!!
