well, i've had a bit of a lean meet so far at del mar- i have been shut out on the pick 6 after playing it maybe 8-10 times this summer. ironically, i've held stable with the few non-exotic plays, but no matter, we have four days left to get some bankroll cushion prior to oak tree.
r1: rodeo shopper. 'shopper makes his second start for the sharp pupye barn and while we do get a significant rider downgrade from solis to kerwin john, we'll get the commensurate lift in price.
r3: preachintothechoir. abrams gelding has had plenty of chances but do think he's the right one in here despite some interesting angles applicable to senior discount (who is certainly one to use in the exotics) and hay man dan, whose stride screams route.
r4: flip flop. going to take a stab against amorama and intercontinental, who figure to take most of the cash, but these turf fillies often take turn beating one another, and i just loved flip flop's last race against past classer house of fortune and tough luck torrey pines loser fencelineneighbor.
r6: bing. rail is tough place for a firster going 6.5 furlongs, but this son of illinois storm looks like he's got a lot of speed and should be able to flee the rail for tyler.
r8: khyber pass. i've always liked this colt and he goes turf to dirt for cerin. 'pass has a touch of class and should sit a nice front running trip from the rail and is an absolute great gamble at 6/1.
r10: connections. i advocated this one first time out sprinting on dirt (see poor july 30th post) and he disappointed with what can only be described as an educational run sprinting. perhaps that poor dirt start will lead to a bit of a price here routing on turf and his one paced styles should suit him quite well. proctor is a superior turf conditioner and we get his $ rider in rene douglas.
good luck
