Some thoughts on the big races of the day:

Santa Anita Derby - Santa Anita Race 6 - Picks 10-3-4-2
Everyone seems to be on the filly, Sweet Catomine... this is her race to lose here, however I am going to lean towards Wilko at 9-2 who didn't fire at first asking off of the layoff last out BUT has more bottom in his game than Sweet Catomine. Both were champions in the Breeders' Cup last fall (Juvenile & Juvenile Fillies respectively).

Illinois Derby - Hawthorne Race 7 - Picks 9-4-1-6
Kansas City Boy had a horrible trip last out which did not help at a track with an inside bias at 1-1/16mi. Rikman steps up and tries tougher company for the first time, could still improve and handle a stronger pace.

Wood Memorial - Aqueduct Race 9 - Picks 3-4-6-5
Bellamy Road is the chalk here and nows runs for Zito... hard to go against this one as he is tops in all of my figure categories... even after being roughed up at the start last out and winning by a mere 15-3/4 lengths. Survivalist is fresh out of the one turn Gotham and is still going to be a question mark around two turns here.

nice work Smooth ..............I am also leaning against 'catomine as I dont think the move in w/ the boys is the money run ...........my thought is they will run her and see how she responds w/o getting to the bottom w/ her and save something for either the OAKS , or if she runs well (2nd,3rd) maybe the Derby ........that being said, maybe she will run her best and beat em all, and then the connections have a BIG decision to make ...........Personally, I'm on WILKO and BANDINI here as I think they need to run a big race for diff reasons and shld get a top perf. from both ........BANDINI needs a triple digit beyer here to establish himself as a legit contender, and WILKO needs to stay in form w/o getting caught up trying to beat SWEET CATOMINE ................should be a great race !!!

I agree jimmy, this race has tougher foes pacewise than anything Catomine has faced yet... if she wins here, she will solidfy herself as a major player, anything else and she is back to running in the Oaks instead of the Derby... I like Wilko, he just needs to wake up!
