KEY STAT: Eastleigh have scored in 12 of their last 14 matches

EXPERT VERDICT: Eastleigh are still holding out hope of clinching back-to-back promotions and can improve their chances with a home win over title-chasing Macclesfield. Just six of Macclesfield's 18 league wins have been on the road and they may struggle to contain the free-scoring Spitfires, who are the second highest scorers in the division.

RECOMMENDATION: Eastleigh

KEY STAT: Crystal Palace have scored all in all but one of Alan Pardew’s games as manager

EXPERT VERDICT: West Ham were denied a White Hart Lane win with the last kick of the game and Crystal Palace could ensure the Hammers endure another disappointing derby day. The Eagles are much more attack-minded under Alan Pardew and acquitted themselves well in defeats to Arsenal and Liverpool.

RECOMMENDATION: Crystal Palace

KEY STAT: Burnley have won only three home league games

EXPERT VERDICT: Burnley have won just once in their last six games but they were 2-0 up against West Brom before drawing and secured a point at Chelsea last time out, so the Clarets can’t be written off entirely. Swansea beat Manchester United last weekend but have averaged less than a goal a game away this season.

KEY STAT: Hull have avoided defeat in seven of 13 away fixtures this term

EXPERT VERDICT: Stoke’s 2-1 win at Aston Villa ended a run of three games without a victory and they’ve lost only once against Hull in seven Premier League meetings. However, the visitors have steadied the ship lately – they are unbeaten in three matches - including a draw at Man City and can grab a point at the Britannia.

RECOMMENDATION: Draw

KEY STAT: Aston Villa scored their last away goal on December 2

EXPERT VERDICT: Newcastle should have enough quality to see off Aston Villa, who have scored just four league goals on their travels. The Magpies, with only one defeat against bottom-half sides, have beaten Liverpool and Chelsea at home and face a Villa side that have blanked in their last five away fixtures.

RECOMMENDATION: Newcastle

KEY STAT: Both teams have scored in Man Utd’s last four games

EXPERT VERDICT: The pressure is firmly on Gus Poyet as Sunderland now lie just three points off the relegation places and, while a trip to Old Trafford may not be as fearsome as it once was, only Chelsea have a better home record than Manchester United. However, the Red Devils rearguard remains dodgy and the Black Cats can get on the scoresheet.

RECOMMENDATION: Both teams to score

KEY STAT: West Brom have lost just once under Tony Pulis

EXPERT VERDICT: Despite dominating for much of their defeat to Liverpool, Southampton failed to create a chance of note and they could pay for that lack of cutting edge against resurgent West Brom. Tony Pulis has brought some much-needed steel to the Baggies since entering the dugout and they should prove no pushovers.

RECOMMENDATION: West Brom

NHL Grand Salami - February

The Grand Salami in pro hockey is decided by adding up all the goals scored in every game scheduled for that particular day. You can wager on 'over' or 'under' the Grand Salami total. The total is set by adding up all listed 'over/under' odds for each game on that particular day.

Note: The Grand Salami will have no action if any game is suspended or cancelled before the regulation time of three twenty minute periods. Also, regardless of the number of goals scored during the shoot out portion of the overtime, the final scored recorded for the game will give the winning team on more goal than its opponent based on the score at the end of regulation time.

*The majority of sportsbooks do not put out a total on the Grand Salami when there is only one game on the card. For tracking purposes, we will continue to show the 'over/under' for goals and combined goals scored on days with just one game.

NHL Preview: Senators (26-23) at Sharks (30-24)

Date: February 28, 2015 10:00 PM EDT

The San Jose Sharks' longest home losing streak in nearly 20 years has put their chances of qualifying for an 11th straight playoff berth in jeopardy.

Suddenly, the Ottawa Senators are giving their postseason hopes a boost with help from an unexpected source in net.

San Jose looks to avoid an eighth consecutive home defeat while preventing the Senators from winning a season-high fifth straight contest Saturday night.

The Sharks' 10-year playoff run is the second-longest in the NHL to Detroit's 23, but the Red Wings rallied for a 3-2 victory Thursday to deal San Jose (30-24-8) another blow in pursuit of extending its streak.

Matt Irwin and Patrick Marleau scored for the Sharks, who are on the verge of dropping eight straight at home for the first time since Feb. 18-March 26, 1995.

"It's devastating. This time of the year, it's unacceptable," Irwin said. "This is where we have to put points in the bank and set ourselves up for the stretch run. And to not get these points is extremely frustrating."

San Jose has dropped four of five overall and has 20 games left to jump Calgary and defending champion Los Angeles for third place in the Pacific Division. It also is battling the Flames and Minnesota for the Western Conference's final wild-card spot.

The Sharks have dropped the first two in a stretch that has them playing eight of nine at home.

"It's very troubling," coach Todd McLellan said of his club's recent home woes. "I think the belief system is not as high as it needs to be. If you want to call that fragile I guess that possibly is. That's not the way we're going to win.

"We've got an Ottawa team coming in that has back-to-back shutouts. We have to find a way to get better."

The Sharks have won seven of the last eight meetings, but the Senators (26-23-10) have won four straight to give themselves some hope of catching Boston for the East's second wild-card spot.

Rookie Andrew Hammond has been in net for each game during the winning streak because of injuries to Craig Anderson and Robin Lehner. He's posted a 0.75 goals-against average in that stretch after helping Ottawa win the first two of a five-game road trip.

Hammond made 25 saves in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Anaheim before stopping 35 shots to blank the Kings 1-0 the following night.

'It's obviously pretty crazy what's going on right now,' said the 27-year-old Hammond, who hadn't made an NHL start until beating Montreal on Feb. 18. '(Los Angeles is) one of the best teams in the league. It's obviously a pretty cool feeling."

Mike Hoffman scored his team-best 21st goal for the Senators, who have outscored opponents 12-3 during their winning streak. They're on the cusp of winning four straight on the road for the first time since the end of the 2013 season.

'It's fun playing against teams that play hard like (the Kings),' defenseman Mark Borowiecki said. 'That felt like playoff hockey to me. (Hammond) has been our anchor back there."

Antti Niemi is 0-5-2 with a 3.55 GAA in the Sharks' last seven at home, and it's unclear if he'll be net for this contest. He's 2-1-0 with a 2.00 GAA in three career starts against the Senators.

Panthers hope to end slide versus Sabres Saturday
Andrew Avery

The Florida Panthers will try to snap a four game losing skid against the Buffalo Sabres on home ice Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers are in the hunt for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference but their recent funk could have them on the outside looking in come the postseason.

Sitting two points behind the Boston Bruins for eighth in the Eastern Conference, the Panthers are seeing both the Philadelphia Flyers and, perhaps surprisingly, the resurgent Ottawa Senators creeping up.

The Panthers and Sabres have met four times already this season and have won three of those games.

# 8 ADAMS HANOVER 8/1

# 9 TONE 15/1

# 4 WESTERN DEAL 9/2

Hard not to favor ADAMS HANOVER as the top pick in this race particularly if the morning line of 8/1 holds. Not many knocks against this horse, let's give him a shot. TONE - Hands down the best post at Balmoral Park is the 9. The win stat is exemplary. Appears that this interesting entrant's running style fits well in this outing. Surely will be there at the finish. WESTERN DEAL - That 81 TrackMaster Speed Rating clocked in the last outing puts this solid standardbred in the mix in here. Nice driver-trainer, winning 30 percent of the time. Looks to be a magnificent wager.

# 3 SIX GUN 10/1

# 1 MOMMA'S ARTIST 7/2

# 2 WHAT'S THE STORY 7/2

Look no further than SIX GUN as the wager in this one and just look at the nice morning line. Seems to have a competitive class advantage based on the starters he has raced against. Deserves a shot given the above average win percentage he sports. MOMMA'S ARTIST - He has been racing strongly and the TrackMaster Speed Ratings are among the best in the field of starters. Seems to have a really strong class edge based on the entrants he has raced against. WHAT'S THE STORY - When starting from the 2 post, a much better than average win percentage has resulted. Could more than likely beat this group of animals given the 77 TrackMaster Speed Rating achieved in his most recent outing.

RECOMMENDED CHOICES

The Walker Group Picks

# 3 TOUGH THOMAS 3/1

# 4 SOVOL 4/1

# 7 WEALWAYSHAVE PARIS 7/2

TOUGH THOMAS has a decent shot to take this race. Recently Patin has been sizzling which may give the edge to this colt. Has been running strongly lately and will most likely be on the front end early on. With a competitive 75 Equibase Speed Figure last time out, will definitely be a factor in this race. SOVOL - The speed figure of 76 from his latest contest looks competitive in here. WEALWAYSHAVE PARIS - He has posted strong numbers under today's conditions and will most likely fare well versus this group. Can't overlook the connections here, a 27 winning percentage, one of the best at getting into the winner's circle.

The Walker Group Picks

# 5 BLUE STREAK OF SIXES 2/1

# 4 JJT ESPECIALLYFORYOU 15/1

# 2 MISTER REYES 8/1

BLUE STREAK OF SIXES is the most respectable bet in this race. JJT ESPECIALLYFORYOU - Has been racing in the most competitive company of the group as of late. She has recorded formidable figs under today's conditions and ought to fare well versus this group of animals. MISTER REYES - Looks competitive to be up near the front end at the first call.

#4 SAINT OF SAINTS (ML=4/1)
#5 INDYCOTT (ML=9/5)
#2 DAD ARE WE HERE (ML=6/1)

SAINT OF SAINTS - Don't look any further. This pony has my money. Way too much pace. INDYCOTT - Jock hops back aloft after getting to know the race horse by riding in the last race. That's always a good tip. Have to make this gelding a serious competitor; he comes off a solid race on February 14th. This horse is in great demand coming off two claims in his last two starts. Don't overlook this gelding in your speculating today. This gelding notched a nice speed fig of 108 in his last event. That speed rating should be strong enough to win today. DAD ARE WE HERE - You always have to be on the lookout for profit making rider/trainer teams; we have an instance right here. I like that recent race on Feb 5th at Fair Grounds where he finished third.

Vulnerable Contenders: #7 TENIENTE CORONEL (ML=5/1), #6 SEA VIEW CHICO (ML=6/1), #3 GEOTHERMAL (ML=8/1),

TENIENTE CORONEL - Will be hard for this racer to beat this field off of that last speed rating. Unlikely to improve enough to run a figure anywhere near today's Equibase class figure, so put him on the vulnerable contenders list. SEA VIEW CHICO - This colt finished out of the money on August 19th and wasn't close to victory last time out either. Doubtful that the speed rating he recorded on Feb 5th will be good enough in this event. GEOTHERMAL - 8/1 odds isn't enough for this horse when looking at the most recent outings.

#9 IRISH MOON (ML=12/1)
#5 AWESOME ENCORE (ML=8/1)
#6 ARION SILVER (ML=3/1)
#4 BIG WAGS (ML=6/1)

RENT A FRIEND - I like to play this handicapping theory, a campaigner coming back off a solid contest within the last 30 days. IRISH MOON - Jock hops up aloft after getting to know the mount by riding last time out. That's always a green light. Finished out of the money last out at Penn National, but was within 5 lengths of the winner. Opening at 12/1 makes me think he's got a chance. AWESOME ENCORE - Hanford brings him right back. I advise you stay with this live gelding. This gelding's last speed rating notched on February 13th is tops in last race speed ratings. ARION SILVER - Possibly a peak effort for this gelding today. Been getting closer with each recent start. This gelding is in fine form. Finished first on February 11th. Look at this pattern of improvement. 72/82/85 are the last three speed figures. BIG WAGS - Have to make this gelding a win candidate; he comes off a good effort on Feb 4th. Took a drop in class last out, and keeps in that lower class right here. A good sign this equine is comfortable and ready to go.

Vulnerable Contenders: #10 MAGIC LION (ML=9/2),

MAGIC LION - This was a hot horse, but now this one hasn't been doing anything in the morning. Have to watch your step with this one.

At the Gate - Saturday
By Mike Dempsey

There is no stake at Aqueduct today but we have three graded stakes at Gulfstream Park to hit including the $200,000 Swale (G2) and the return of the Todd Pletcher trained Daredevil, who won the Champagne (G1) last fall.

The stakes action starts with the $150,000 Herecomesthebride (G3) for three-year-old fillies that drew a field of nine.

The Chad Brown trained Consumer Credit is the 8-5 morning line favorite. The filly is coming off a victory in the Sweet Chant (G3) over the turf at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 24. The daughter of More Than Ready won the Wait a While Stakes two back in her first start against winners.

Her main rival figures to be Quality Rocks (5-2) who had the lead heading for home in the Sweet Chant but could not hold off the winner and came up a length short.

Daredevil is the even money favorite in the seven furlong Swale, which will be his first start off a four-month layoff. The colt earned a lofty 107 Beyer Speed Figure in the slop in the one turn mile Champagne. I have a hunch the price is going to be south of the even money and we will look to beat him for the top spot.

The $150,000 Palm Beach (G3) drew a field of 11 three-year-olds who will go 1 1/16 miles on the turf. Brown again has the one to beat in Night Prowler, who won the Dania Beach (G3) in his last outing on Jan. 3.

Four in the race exit the Kitten’s Joy on Jan. 24 which was won by the Bill Mott trained Dubai Sky, who is the 3-1 second choice on the morning line.

Here is today’s opening race from Aqueduct to get the day off to a good start:

AQU Race 1 Clm $10,000 (1:20 ET)
7 Pulpit's Express 7-2
6 Solly's Mischief 8-5
3 Lubango 2-1
5 Tug of War 8-1

Analysis: Pulpit's Express was beaten double digit lengths in his two starts since landing here from the west coast and going to Jacobson. Both outings came against $32,000 and he is jammed in here for $16,000 here while stretching back out to a mile. The Jacobson barn is 26% winners moving runners from sprint to route. His local form does not look pretty but he catches a weak group here.

Solly's Mischief is coming off a game win last out against $16,000 non-winners of three. The gelding was claimed out of the race by the red hot Gullo barn that has been very live at the meet (34% winners) although overall the trainer is just 6% winners first off the claim. The gelding has landed in the exacta in four of five trips on the inner.

6 Cleancut Kid 6-1
8 Flag On the Play 3-1
2 Lookingoutforyou 7-2
3 Sidearm 4-1

Analysis: Cleancut Kid stumbled coming out of the gate, came with a five wide rally and finished up well for the runner up spot last out in his first go off nearly a three month break. The winner of the race was War Hero, who came back to $16,000 non-winners of three in his next start on Feb. 26. The gelding is going to get a solid early pace to run at and should be tighter second off the break.

Flag On the Play took the field gate to wire to pick up his diploma last out in his fifth career start. Rice claimed this guy for $50,000 and he has run well in all three starts for the barn. He owns a solid pace profile throughout and he may not be on the led here but he showed two and three back in the slop he can sit off the pace.

Wagering
WIN: #6 to win at 7-2 or better.
EX: 6,8 / 2,3,6,8
TRI: 6,8 / 2,3,6,8 / 3,4,5,6,8

GP Race 5 The Herecomesthebride G3 (2:30 ET)
8 Consumer Credit 9-5
5 Quality Rocks 5-2

4 Pine Needles 8-1

Analysis: Consumer Credit has won three in a row including taking the Wait a While and Sweet Chant (G3) in her last two outings and looks tough in this spot for the Chad Brown barn. Last out the filly stalked the early pace and angled toward the outside in the stretch and finished up well for the win. Brown is having a strong meting and this filly looks primed for another top effort in her second start off the two-month break.

Quality Rocks dueled for the early lead and could not hold off our top pick late last out while drifting out in the stretch, beaten a length. She was making her first start since a 10th place finish in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1). Her first start on turf was a good second in the Jessamine (G3) at Keeneland last fall and note that was over ground less than firm which could be the case today with some rain in the forecast for the morning. Looks like it could be a chalky exacta here.
