OK Ray I've looked hard at the Mav/Celt game. This is a tough one.
I tracked the Cs back to December of '07 last season. They are a Sunday team, going 14-2 SU and 11-5 ATS in the regular season, and 4-1 SU and 4-1 ATS in the Playoffs on Sunday. Why is Sunday important? Because, without having access to the info, my guess is that most of those games were "spotlight" TV games. If that premise is accurate, the C's clearly like to turn it up when showcased.
But they are in a bad spot here today.
Dallas should be coming up to a peak focus game as they lost close games to the Cs in both of their meetings last year. (The Celts by the way had just come off a two game road trip to Miami and Orlando last year, same as this year, before getting Dallas at home last year.) This is their first meeting this year.
It should be noted that Dallas just avenged their worst beating last year, 67-90, by smashing the Pistons in the mouth in their first meeting this year, 112-91, as 4 point dogs in Detroit on Friday. They are clearly in revenge mode and peak focus.
The Cs were 1' pointhome dogs last year in this spot, beating the Mavs, 96-90. Today they are 9' point favs. Big pointspread swing. Maybe too big.
The value here is with the Mavs today. But it's tough going against the Celts who are in sync and playing a home game on Sunday, where they have excelled.
Good luck Ray.
