Saskatchewan (55.5) vs. Edmonton (-3)
Roughriders vs. Eskimos History: The Saskatchewan Roughriders are 9-9-3 (ATS), 5-16 (SU) and the O/U is 9-12-0 vs. the Eskimos in Edmonton since 1996.
Ron's Comment: The Roughriders and Eskimos are both coming off a bye week; therefore, both teams will be eager to get rolling this Thursday at Commonwealth Stadium. The Eskimos are anticipating a crowd of 48,000 to 50,000, as 43,000 tickets have already been sold to Thursday's tilt vs.
the top draw in the league, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Lady luck finally ran out on the Roughriders prior to the Bye week, they fell 30-25 to the Calgary Stampeders and they will have another tough time this week in Edmonton, as they are only 5-16 SU at Commonwealth Stadium since 1996.
In fact, the Riders are only 3-13 SU on the road vs. division opponents when the total is 54.5 or higher. Plus, Saskatchewan has been hit with a ton of leg injuries this season, but they've still managed to average
29.86 Points For a game, while their stingy defense allows only 23.29 points against. QB Ricky Ray is looking like the old Ricky Ray before he left to the NFL and has found new favorite receivers in Kelly Campbell and Fred Stamps. Furthermore, Edmonton is in a great betting spot this week, they are 11-2 SU as a home favorite in August before a division game on deck. The Eskimos who lost a 40-34 nail bitter in BC two weeks ago might get caught looking head to next week, as they have their biggest regular season game of the year on deck, the BIG Labor Day Classic with the Stampeders at McMahon Stadium. As for the Roughriders, they face the Blue Bombers next Sunday on August 31st.

CFL | SASKATCHEWAN at EDMONTON
Play On - Underdogs or pick (SASKATCHEWAN) versus division opponents, off an upset loss as a home favorite

2-0 this year. ( 100.0% | 2.0 units )

My play ..
Selection: Saskatchewan to win
Odds: Point Spread (+3.5) -110

Hi Douglas, a little local perspective here from Regina, and I am a Rider fan fyi. The Riders have many injuries and I mean many, just looking through the paper today I count about 15 on the list most are starters. When the season began the Riders, defending Grey Cup champs, were expected to be in a bit of a rebuilding mode with 4 key players and their head coach from the championship team gone including mvp Kerry Joseph. Myself I thought the same thing but they came out on fire winning their first six games behind 3 different qb's due to injuries. Through all the adversity they just kept winning and almost every game there was 4th qtr comebacks especially recently before their first loss to Calgary.

I have a feeling their luck has run out and the depth issue has come to the front and kudos to their new gm and new coach for doing a spectacular job, they have been playing inspired ball. As your article noted Edmonton has their biggest game of the year with the labor day classic against Calgary, the Riders have their labor day classic against Winnipeg next week as well and you'll have to trust me here but the classic here is way bigger than the Alberta duel and is a big big tradition here that players, management and fans truly embrace. Sask will be the one looking ahead IMO.

Edmonton who is sitting at 4-3 with Calgary and BC in the crowded western conf will not be looking by this game, it's a must win for them to keep pace. The Rider whopped up on the Eskimos this year once as well so a little revenge is in order also. Calgary put one on the Riders their last game out getting out in front 30-4 to start the 4th qtr and a valiant attempt by the Riders to comeback fell 5 points short as they once again rallied in the 4th to score 21 unanswered. I see the same thing happening tonight as Ricky Ray who looked great in their last game , a loss to BC, will have a big game against a familiar foe. I don't think the Riders have the horses to win this one and will fall behind early and Edmonton will cruise to victory.

I personally bet Edmonton game and first half but I offer you my sincere best wishes with your selection.

Tom

Looks like it may rain the entire game tonight in Edmonton, this worth noting b/c of the real grass surface that gives Ed a significant home feild advantage. As the simplery turf usually confuses visiting teams for a teh first half toil they get the right cleats in.

It is also suppose to be fairly windy 20-25 KM winds, That will nothelp the ed passing game.

Under might be a good play as it sounds like Ed game plan in to key on Wes Cates.

what are you putting it with on SA

In the last 6 quarters of football the Rough riders have scored – 0,1,4,0,0,21 (21 was in garbage time vs CGY when the stamps were up 30-4). with a depeleted receiving core the rough riders are very one dimensional.
