RACE #10 - BELMONT PARK - 5:48 PM EASTERN POST
The Alabama Stakes
10.0 FURLONGS DIRT GRADE I THREE YEAR OLD FILLIES STAKES $500,000.00 PURSE

#4 IT'S TRICKY
#3 PLUM PRETTY
#6 INGLORIOUS
#5 ST. JOHN'S RIVER

A little Thoroughbred Racing Trivia folks ... except for The Ladies Handicap, inaugurated in 1868, The ALABAMA, for three year old fillies, is the oldest run race for females in the country. It was started in 1872, when August Belmont's Woodbine took the first running. Here in the 131st renewal of this Grade I test, #4 IT'S TRICKY has posted a quartet of "POWER RUN WINS" in her last five outings, with three of those "Circle Trips" also qualifying as "POWER RUNS." Jockey Eddie Castro was in her irons for those four wins, and is back today for his 5th ride. Castro teams with Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin send her to the post for the "Saturday Feature" ... they've "whacked the tote board" with 61% of their entries saddled as a team to date, winning at an impressive 44% clip! #3 PLUM PRETTY has hit the board in five straight starts, including back-to-back "POWER RUN WINS" in her 3rd and 4th races back.

Appears very likely that Plum Pretty and It's Tricky will set the pace together in this one as they did in the CCA Oaks (Grade I). Inglorious may be able to run them down but she is a big closer and at 1 & 1/4 miles, the two front runners will likely set a modest pace making it more difficult for them to be overtaken in the stretch. Plus, she has never run on the dirt. Very classy, but I'll take a stand against her with an exotic.

#3 Plum Pretty/#4 It's Tricky (Exacta Box)

Good luck everyone!
