Saints are currently under 7.5 wins +100 at Canbet and a few other outs.

Lets face it--they probably wouldn't have won 8 games to begin with, as bad as they looked in the PS. We all know Haslett is a lame duck. Aaron Brooks has still not put it together. This team is all about 2 aging stars, Joe Horn and Duce. If either of them goes down, they are a losing team, for sure. Now, the Superdome appears badly damaged in the hurricane. CNBC is showing large pieces of the roof missing, and the hurricane has just begun. There is a distinct possibility the Aints might have to play their homegames elsewhere for a while. Also, their fan base might be preoccupied with rebuilding their homes, etc.

With all due respect to those affected by the hurricane, its AINTS under 7.5 for me.

PPeter, a word of caution if I may

This team has excellent offensive line play and depth. 3 of their Backups could start for other teams, and they really came on at the end of last season. As a former offensive lineman myself, I always look at this. They will have the ability to BLAST the 2 tiny D-Lines in their division (TB, and ATL), once again. Deuce isn't aging, and I think he is a fine recieving threat. I actually have NO finishing 2nd in that division behind Carolina. The schedule isn't impossible, and I did well betting on the saints last year. I like this teams speed, and I think Stallworth will emerge somewhat, stretching the field as these defenses gear up to stop what will be one of if not the best rushing attack in the league.

Just my thoughts, and honestly, they could do worse than Brooks at QB.

Budworth,

nice analysis - also if Brooks turns it up a notch your
2nd place prediction will surely come home.

Basically, last year NO had an injured Deuce and Stallworth
wasn't up to speed (but this year is his last chance and
he knows it). Brooks really didn't have much of a chance.

But this is deceptively tough division 7-9 win seems about
right.

It is conceivable for the Saints to win 8 or 9 games. For the past few years, they have displayed plenty of offense. If their D can improve, they can add a few more wins.

It appears that their D has been improving. The final 4 games of 2004, they held opponents to 15.3 pts/game, a much improved D compare to 25.5 pts/games during week 10-13.

Saints could go marching out after hurricane rips hole in stadium roof <!-- END HEADLINE -->

<!-- BEGIN STORY BODY -->59 minutes ago

American football's New Orleans Saints could be marching out of the storm-damaged Superdome and moving next week's workouts for their season opener to Texas because of damage here from Hurricane Katrina.

Two holes were punched in the roof of the 80,000-seat domed stadium Monday as people took refuge inside, trying to escape the hurricane's fury. Flooding and wind damage was expected to take a heavy toll on the surrounding area.

The National Football League club flew Sunday to San Jose, California, to escape the storm's wrath. The Saints play their final pre-season exhibition game at Oakland on Thursday before returning here to assess the damage.

"Our plans for flying home will be determined once we see what kind of condition the city is in," Saints spokesman Greg Nensel said. "We are all hoping for the best for the city and the people that remain."

Club officials were looking at conducting next week's workouts, ahead of their September 11 opener at Carolina, in Houston or Dallas, or possibly at college facilities in Shreveport or Lafayette, depending on the damage in New Orleans.

The Saints' home opener against the New York Giants on September 18 will be played, but whether the game is played in the Superdome will depend upon the recovery of the city and stadium over the next three weeks.

Relocating the game to another city would not be unprecedented. On October 27, 2003, the San Diego Chargers lost 26-10 to Miami in Tempe, Arizona, while their home stadium was being used as a shelter for wildfire evacuation victims.

The Saints were forced to relocate workouts to San Antonio for a week last season when Hurricane Ivan struck the area, although they were able to host San Francisco that week as scheduled.

Louisiana State University's American football team called off Monday's practice but still planned to open the season by playing host to North Texas State on Saturday at Baton Rouge.

Tulane University's American football squad moved to Jackson, Mississippi. The Green Wave continued preparations there for Sunday's opener at Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.

Southern Mississippi's Golden Eagles practiced Sunday and took Monday off to weather the storm, planning to resume workouts Tuesday.

"We hope we can play this game," Eagles coach Jeff Bower said. "I hope that the weather won't be as bad as people are saying it could be. We're going to hunker down and be safe for a while."

The New Orleans Zephyrs, the top development team for Major League Baseball's Washington Nationals, called off their final two home games against Iowa due to the hurricane.

The Saints were just as bad as I thought, maybe even worse, as it appears scumbag owner Benson is two-timing the City instead of leading it out of the ashes.

I would by as low as 6

The Saints will be lucky to go 6-10. Since they moved to the NFC Southern division they have been under-achievers. Every year they started strong and fell. They were even predicted at one point to go to the Superbowl. With McCallister out for the season, one of their most deadly weapons, the Saints are finished.
