I'm afraid Roberts will come out of the committee without one Dem vote.

Kennedy, speaking at Roberts hearings about Hurricane Katrina:

The suffering has been disproportionately borne by the weak, the poor, the elderly and infirm, and largely African-Americans, who were forced by poverty, illness, unequal opportunity to stay behind and bear the brunt of the storm's winds and floods.

oh by the way WTF does the hurricane have to do with Robert's nomination?

These Senators can act any way they please but am I the only one who feel like Roberts is being battered? Can't remember this happening to Gensburg.

sam I saw that too. Teddy was using his race baiting as a prelude to asking whether Roberts agreed with Brown v. Board of Education. I guess if you drink enough, there appears to be some connection between segregated schools and hurricane recovery

Roberts is too smart for those clowns. To think have another shot Kennedy, a man that murdered a woman is still in office is disgraceful.

Ginsberg was selected with the blessings of Orrin Hatch out of a list of candidates that Clinton was considering. Hatch (ranking member on the judiciary commitee) was included in the selection process and indicated that Ginsberg would be easily confirmed. Did your clueless boy wonder consult Patrick Leahy or any other Democrat in the selection process? Of course not, he's so oblivious he thinks he has a mandate.

cut,

are you suggesting than roberts is as radical as ginsburg? the gop never puts up a fight, end of story. they are a bit weak and scared of the media, but that will change as the media becomes more and more irrelevant.

The Democrats know where their base votes are. So they need to anger blacks, women, gays and the poor. Sometimes they even play the disability card. The Democrats are pathetic. Give them a vote and they promise you a hand out social program. :finger: them.

Neither is radical. Ginsburg is a good justice, and Rpberts should be as well.

I'm suggesting that by including Hatch in the selection process and having him select the name of a jurist who won't meet opposition had much to do with her cruising through the confirmation process.

Somehow you are under the impression that Ginsberg is some radical. If you use Scalia as the benchmark for conservatism. In the cases that weren't unanomously decided, the are 2 justices who've disagreed with Scalia more often than Ginsberg did. By that definition, she is 3rd from the left on this court. Many of the right wing pundits portray her as the most radical supreme court justice ever. There is simply no facts to back that statement up.

Report: Laura Bush in 1963 Car Wreck

By JIM VERTUNO, Associated Press Writer

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - At 17, Laura Bush ran a stop sign and crashed into another car, killing her boyfriend who was driving it, according to an accident report released to The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Police listed two violations as contributing to the accident, both by Mrs. Bush. One checked box read "disregard stop sign or light," and the other was illegible...
