Anyone interested in joining this team please reply in this thread.

For anyone who is unclear, we will each be investing $100 (approximately) and trying to turn it into at least 10k in order to participate at next years World Series of Poker. The idea is to try to win 7 wagers in a row, doubling up on each bet.

We will start next week. If you are interested please reply by Sunday.

Let's do this!

Neat Idea: However it doesn't hold water. Win the 7 bets, buy in against world class players, in no limit hold'em, we are dead money !

Are you guys better than say, Phil Hellmuth at no-limit Hold-em ?

I think not !

Fun idea , but bad value, for most. It has a negative expectation. You'd have to be not only excellent, but excellent also at no-limit, and under pressure.

I've dreamed of entering this event, but realize my money would be dead. My game isn't good enough, especially with no-limit, I'm not world -class.

I'm in.

Doug...I've played against Phil Hellmuth before...no big deal really...he plays like any other solid player.

If you play a solid game, you should have a decent chance. The prizewinners of last year's main event were mostly no-names, and I would expect this year to be the same.

You know I'M in...

Come on Doug, think of it as risking $ 125.00 for a blast in Vegas and a shot at the big time.. Wait a minute , thats all it is...

I'm going to invest the $125 in this and also invest another $75 separately just incase we actually pull this off.

Hell, any reason to head to one of my favorite places and i'm playing along.

Was just there 3 weeks ago and talking about going back between Xmas and New Years.

I agree with DougJ, but it mostly depends on your entire bankroll before you start this endeavor. If you had 100,000$ and were thinking about buying into the main event if you don't hit 7 picks in a row, then by all means, give it a whirl. Think of it as having to win 7 consecutive heads-up satellites to qualify for the main event. If your bankroll is only 1,000$ and you somehow manage to make the 7 picks and get it up to 10,000$ then playing in the main event is a horrible risk as you're laying almost of your bankroll on the line, unless you figure you could sell off half of your action. It really doesn't matter how good of a player you are, it's a matter of bankroll size. I've won several online no-limit tourneys of 200+ players before (smallish buyins, however, not 10,000$, lol). My EV in these things is enormous. DougJ's point is valid, it wouldn't be smart to invest the bulk of your bankroll in an event stacked with quality players, unless, of course, it's your dream to play in it, damn the money.

In any case, I wish you good luck and will be watching your hopefully rising parley!

it really isnt about dreaming of playing in the WSOP, and isnt really about bankroll. it about a small investment that will hopefully grow large enough to cover the trip.

i'm actually interested to see if a few guys getting together can figure out 7 winners in a row.

Glad to see we got a team forming. The fact is that some people might want to use their winnings another way. For me I have always dreamed of playing in the WSOP and this is a cool way to try to make that happen. Hopefully others feel the same way. It would be pretty cool getting to meet all you schmos in Vegas!

If it's too complicated to have someone hold the money to prevent cop-outs, let's at least agree that if someone cops out he loses his posting privileges for a month and we can call him whatever names we want for a month without having the thread moved to the RR. What do y'all say?
