an improving ballclub.....a young qb with a years experience under his belt....
rutgers lost only 13 lettermen from last year ....and have experience and depth at most positions....and are supposedly a fairly quick ballclub..
mich st has had some turnover at the key skill positions...
rutgers takes a step up the ladder this year....or maybe it doesn`t happen under schiavone....in a fairly wide open big east, they can possibly make a little noise....at least be very competitive......
are mich st`s big ten athletes far superior to the scarlet knights`?.....maybe..probably to an extent... ..that`s the question...
although,i didn`t get the feeling watching mich st last year that they were your typical physical big ten club....more of a finesse team...and with new offensive personnel at some skill positions,it may not be a smooth transition early....particularly considering john l smith`s wide open offensive schemes...although stanton did have some game experience last year...
at least that`s what i`m hoping...(lol)
always willing to take a whack at an underrated, experienced home dog on opening night...with revenge...vs the big boys from the big ten....
I got it at +9 when it first opened. It will continue to drop also. Spartans have not named a starting qb yet (replacing Jeff Smoker). Both their starting RB's were moved to defense so they will have a whole new backfield.
Interesting game. Michigan State has been a mess the last few seasons and it will be interesting to see if any meaning fun changes have been made in this weakening program.
and one more...a game of little interest....posting because nobody else seems to have mentioned it
stanford-17....why this garbage game?....because san jose lost some very important players off last year`s club and they are shuffling guys all over the place.......
stanford brings back highly rated trent edwards who threw for 278 yds ly in a relief role vs the spartans....their top 2 backs lemon and tolon are back...as is young but talented top receiver bradford..the other starting reciver on the other side is 6`7".....9 defensive starters return...
sjs loses star qb scott rislov....their top "6" receivers and return only one offensive lineman....their defense is always shaky...
sj st has lost their last 7 in a row ats vs the pac-10....by an average of 26 ppg....
after losing seven straight openers, stanford has covered 4 straight....and under teevens stanford has handled the spartans easily the last 2 years....this is teevens best, most experienced squad...
i know motivation will be with sj st,but trent edwards was a very highly regarded recruit and may just break out as he is surrounded with young but experienced guys... while sj st returns 9 starters total....
i could be very wrong laying points with potential rather than a proven quantity....
just a hunch...nobody seems to be paying any attention to this ballgame....
