He transferred out because State got tired of him not being there for Spring and Summer practice. Coach O'Brien asked for him to either fully commit to either baseball or football, and when he waffled he was told that he could comeback in a back-up capacity (With most situations this would be coach-speak, but TOB might actually mean what he says). Russell decided to explore his options and ended up ditching baseball and spending a grad school season in Madison. FWIW he is an outstanding QB who should really thrive in that offense, Wisky usually doesn't have a QB who can make plays with his feet when the play breaks down. He did a great job @ NCSU without getting spring and summer practice in so I wouldn't worry that much about him being able to pick up the offense without a full spring in camp. The sky is the limit for the Badgers if their D is solid and their run game remains as strong as last year.
