WASHINGTON - May 2 - Mr. President, our country desperately needs a new vision for strengthening our national security, and it starts by redeploying U.S. forces from Iraq and refocusing our attention on the global terrorist threats that face us. I have filed an amendment that requires the redeployment of U.S. forces from Iraq by December 31st, 2006.

Unfortunately, Mr. President, the Senate will not be given the opportunity to vote on this amendment if we invoke cloture on the emergency supplemental bill that we will be considering shortly.

This body has failed time and again to debate the direction of our country’s policy in Iraq. Three years ago the President landed on an aircraft carrier and declared “Mission Accomplished” in Iraq. Today, with thousands of lives lost and billions of dollars spent, we are still no closer to a policy that lifts the burden from our troops and taxpayers, and that actually makes our country safer from the terrorist networks that seek to hurt us.

By failing to discuss alternatives to the Administration’s failed Iraq policy, we have let down this institution and our constituents. We simply cannot continue to avoid asking the tough questions about Iraq. We should not be appropriating billions of dollars for Iraq without debating – and demanding -- a strategy to complete our military mission there. Not when the lives of our soldiers and the safety of our country are at risk, Mr. President.

i'm liking this Feingold guy more and more every day.

it's just too bad he'll get blasted from the right and called a traitor and all kinds of nonsense. he's telling the truth.

our troops don't need to be in iraq. we've already done the impossible in iraq...

we took a country that was fucked up beyond repair and we somehow fucked it up even more. amazing! that's pretty hard to do.

let's cut our losses, get the hell out and stop getting our kids killed and flushing money down the toilet.

I think you guys would be long gone if it wasn't for the oil and Iraqs borders being alongside Kuwait and Saudi.

If $200 to $300 a barrel is ok for you guys you should get the hell out of there and leave the place to Allah.

be long gone???

we never would have been there in the first place if they didn't have oil!

granted, i'm not one of these people who thinks oil was the ONLY reason we went over there. but it was certainly an important one.

there are plenty of madmen in this world who should be toppled (although i'm not saying that WE need to topple them, let their own people do that), but this madman sat on oil! that was the tipping point.

Christian ...

Feingold is the ONLY ONE from either side right now that has testicles and
is willing to make our leaders accountable and God Bless Him as he is a
breath of fresh air

Sad when asking a President and surrounding Members to be square with
Americans and that gets one labeled a "Traitor"

I have followed Feingold's career from the start and I like the guy.

There is a problem tho. If he ever gets to the whitehouse I think he may just be used and abused like they did to Carter.
Guys like this are too pure to get anything done in Washington.

After spending a decade trying to do something about campaign finance only to have it wind up worse than it was. He obviously knows how hard it will be to accomplish anything.

Run Feigold .. and grab Clark

Remember this quote from Clark???

In 2004, Clark said, "If Karl Rove wants a piece of me, he knows where he can find me."

Stick it to Rove and company:

* Clips daily of the Mess in Iraq with Bush and his "Mission Accomplished" act and clips of him bragging in 2000 how he would do no "nation building"
* $3 gallon for gas with clips of Bush bragging in 2000 how "he would jawbone with OPEC Leaders to bring down the prices"
* Clips of Katrina with Bush saying "You're doing a heckva job, Brownie"
* Bush claiming he wanted to get to the "bottom of any leaks within
my admininstrartion" with clips of fatboy Rove sweating his ass off
* Clips of the Porn Site run by White House Press Plant "Bulldog" Gannon

STICK TO THESE CLOWNS AND LETS GET SOME "TRUE AMERICANS" IN OFFICE
