If you're wearing a full cage and take a high stick to the head, is it still a high stick?

then why do we not see "high stick" penalty when a stick catches a shoulder, upper arm, chest, etc.

..nevermind:

The main purpose of the High Sticking rule is in place to protect the upper regions of a person’s body, particularly the neck and head. A penalty for High Sticking may be assessed when a player contacts an opponent anywhere in the upper chest or above. This means that if a player is hooking an opponent up around the shoulders, the referee will likely call it a high sticking penalty, and this is one of the penalties that could lead to a game ejection. If a referee calls the infraction a “hook”, even though it is up around the shoulder, it is not counted as one of the game ejection penalties

I still can't recall seeing any penalty being called if a high stick lightly clips someone's helmet.

Bearly brush their flesh, (like the one on Franzen in tonight's second period), and you'd think he was shot.

no...proper call but the blade of the stick brushed him very slightly. Franzen embelished.

However.. no more than anyone else does in today's game.

but that's my point. If you saw that high stick on Franzen it came close to catching his visor. If it had brushed his visor but never touched his flesh should that be a high stick?

Hmmmmm I just ran it back and just caught it on my tivo. He got him pretty good. He was carelessly using his stick. And "slapped" him pretty good with the blade.

probably. I mean if someones visor got tapped pretty good theyd probly call it but doubtful if it just barely grazed...
