Michigan wins straight up. I will always take the great Big Ten team over the great Pac ten team. What is the difference between these 2 teams? Both lost to 1 bad team (oregon and cal), but michigan had 1 more down game during the year against a very solid iowa team. Since that loss michigan has been as good as USC and been playing with something to prove. THey will have less distractions coming into the game, but their motivation will be just as strong. I will be on michigan plus the pts and the ML>

USC has huge motivation in this game! 7 is too many but it wouldn't surprise me to see Michigan cover 7.

USC does have all of the motivation for this game I just wonder if they will be a little down not being able to play in the Sugar Bowl

Same scenario a couple of years ago, if Nebraska would have beat Miami, #3 Colorado could have shared the title with the Huskers, but they were to pissed/depressed they didn't get the Rose bowl.

I also see this line doing nothing but going up because of the fact USC has to have it.

kman, no doubt USC has huge motivation. Alot of people cap based on motivation and will say "USC has to win to get a share of the national title." My only point is that michigan will have equal motivation. No one doubts the importance of this game for USC>

Where did you find this line? I can't find a line posted anywhere and 7 seems HUGE to me.

take a look at the Big 11's road record when they travel west to play a pac 10 team. it is downright scary - BAD!

i know this technically isn't a road game in that the crowd won't be 100% against the road team - and in cases of UM playing at oregon earlier this season UM isn't getting to town the day before the game - they will be in L.A. for at least 1 week - but still - a Big 11 school coming out west usually produces bad results - as will be the case here.

the best play here might be the OVER but let me see them post a total first.

MICHIGAN WILL WIN THIS GAME OUTRIGHT....MARK MY WORDS

TAKE THE POINTS,THE OVER,AND THE MONEYLINE

USC IS OVER-RATED AND HAVEN'T EVEN COME CLOSE TO PLAYING A TEAM WITH THE D LIKE MICH NOR A O FOR THAT MATTER.

MICH WILL SHOW THE COUNTRY WHY USC IS AT THE RIGHT BOWL.

IF YOU THINK THE USC FANS ARE PISSED NOW.....WAIT UNTIL MICH BEATS THEM IN THE ROSE BOWL

FVCK USC

There's a ton of home cooking going on at the Rose Bowl. Michigan will have to dominate the game to win.

Definitely like Michigan in this spot. They are more battle tested than the trojans. USC has only beaten one good team and that is WSU. My auburn tigers were garbage this year and so was the pac10(only 4 other teams in this conference with winning records). Michigan did lose to Oregon and #13 Iowa. However they did beat #24 Minnesota, #12 Purdue, #7 Ohio St.and rival Mich. St. This Michigan team is in the bowl they wanted and will not have to deal with the BCS?'s and disappointment like USC.

Any one have recent history ATS results of the Rose Bowl? Big 10 vs Pac 10.

Just curious to see if one conference usually performs better than the other.

i hate both of these schools so emotion one way or the other doesn't come into play. there is no way usc wins this game. i'll be the first to admit that they have a very nice offensive football team and will undoubtably score some points but it won't be near enough points. usc has, for the most part, given up some points this year. what i'm not sure about is how many of them were given up during garbage time as they had many impressive lopsided wins. michigan can flat out score and score big. what seperates them from usc is that they play pretty decent defense as well. usc hasn't been battle tested since they play in about the weakest conference on the planet. michigan has had a great schedule and has beaten several teams that would have dominated the pac 10. like i said earlier, this has nothing to do with not liking usc but just my opinion.

I think USC will be charged up to win this game. Carroll will have defense ready. USC wins by 3 touchdowns.

buckeye - just come out and admit it - you are still bitter about your OVERRATED b(f)uckeyes being exposed for the frauds everyone said they were in the UM game. we all told you osu was a fraud and you not believing us showed that when it comes to pac 10 football - you are NOT the one we should be paying attention to. as we said so at the time - usc would have wiped the field with the b(f)uckeyes. michigan is solid - but as was the case at the end of last season - usc is the best team in the nation. last season have a 4-team playoff with miami, osu, usc and iowa and usc wins it - and NO ONE (outside of comubus - meaning all objective fans) know this. if usc and osu played in last year's fiesta bowl - usc would have been at least a 7-point fave. this season have a 4-team playoff with okie, lsu, usc and michigan - and ONCE AGAIN the condoms win it.

buckeye - worry more about your overrated and fraudulent b(f)uckeyes being run off the field by k-state - in a game NO ONE cares about (ok - no one besides the KSU alums - i doubt many osu fans care about this one - this game means NOTHING in the national title chase).

Ball Breaker you HOMER you LOL....

First let me address Michigans game vs Oregon at Oregon. Michigan just came out of a bitter rivalry game(although they whooped them) vs Notre Dame and then traveled to Oregon. I knew this would be a flat spot for Michigan when the schedule came out so I was all over Oregon plus the points. College teams coming off of major rivalry games are a bad play, since plenty of emotion was spent the previous week. The loss at Oregon does not concern me...

With an opening line in the neighborhood of USC -7 at first glance one would question that being too many points to give a team of Michigans caliber. Something like when Michigan opened -7 vs Ohio State and we know what happpened there. Many felt giving Ohio State 7 points was too many and Michigan wins by 14. I definitely believe this line will head downward as John Q Public will view this line as too high.

Now on to the major advantage that USC has in this game, besides being played in their back yard....USC has a decided coaching advantage over Michigan. Coach Carroll vs Coach Carr is a no brainer. Coach Carr basically sucks as a coach. A decided edge in coaching to USC!!!!

The intangibles are all USC but the better personnel MAY be Michigan. It is an interesting match-up and should be a fun game to watch

Bernie

P.S. Even though I played in the Big 10 and am a Big 10 fan right now I have a lean towards USC based solely on the opening line. Like I said at first glance, Michigan +7 looks like a steal deal and there are no steal deals in sports wagering. (Added comment, besides USC the rest of the PAC 10 is SHIT!!!!)

WINKY

You need a reality check on the PAC 10....Hell I'll admit that USC is a quality team but you need a reality check on the rest of the Pac 10. The rest of the PAC 10 is bull shit. Come'on 2nd best team in PAC 10 Washington State loses to Notre Dame, Barrrrrrf. Illinois last in the Big 10 (0-8) ONLY loses to California by 7 and UCLA by 3, both on the road vs two of the better (LOL) teams in the PAC 10. Come'on Winky time for a reality check....PAC 10 arguably had 3 of the worst teams in Division 1 with Arizona, Stanford and ASU....

Regards

Not sure if it is fair to compare Iowa to michigan. The gap in talent is wide. I guess we will have to wait and see who is right.

winky, you need to get a phuckin grip bro. i'm not talking about ohio state here. this thread is the usc/michigan game. if i was posting just due to michigan spanking the bucks, one would think i'd be supporting usc. thats not the case. usc will not, and i repeat, will not stop michigan in this game. usc's trio of tailbacks will also find out what it's like to have their asses kicked all day long. wake up, this isn't a patsy pac 10 school. this is the big ten and come game day, the frauds from the weak sister pac 10 will be in for a long day. by the way, your best team in the nation ended up with TWO losses last year and will have TWO this year also.
