Could it be? We had this lady who played in our poker circle that would raise holy hell if all the bottled water was cold. She claimed it was much better for you at room temperature. Woman had a little bit of the drama queen syndrome in her though, was this just part of the show or actually based on fact? Thanks.

it's actually true that room temperature water is better than very cold water. reason is digestion is slowed and food doesn't leave your stomach until it is at body temperature, so if it is very cold then your stomach has to bring more blood into the stomach lining to help increase temperature faster; thus increasing your chances of stomach ulcers at one stage or another.

this is one reason why countries who have their beer very cold such as australia have a higher prevelance of stomach ulcers in heavy drinkers.

I attended a Hapkido seminar with Grandmaster Ji Han Jae, he was the fighter in Game of Death right before Kareem. After the Seminar I was invited out for dinner with Master Jae. He has a lot of rules about what and how you can eat for strength and health.
I'll include the list but one of the rules was always drink water at room temperature, and don't let the water touch the top of your molars as that releases a bit of adrenaline and Adrenaline needs to be saved for fighting.

Foods that inhibit the KI's full potential: Eat well. Do not eat pork because it restricts the heart circulation. Poultry reduces the oxygen intake of the lungs, and slows the body's natural healing process (web-footed birds like the duck are all right to eat; it is the open-clawed birds that are unhealthy.) Fish without scales (e.g. calamari, octopus, eel and shark) suppress the detoxification properties of the liver. Too much peppery, spicy food causes stomach ulcers, while overdoing salt destroys the kidney's filtering abilities. Do not drink alcohol as it kills brain cells. All these items are poisonous foods that harm the internal organs, thereby inhibiting the production of adrenaline hormones in the body.
Adrenaline is your physical KI and it is blocked by the harmful influence of these foods on your body. If even one of your major internal organs is ill, it affects the other organs and weakens them considerably.

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][SIZE=-1]WATER: drink the right amount of water at the right temperature. Too much as well as too little water causes death. Do not drink water that is either too hot or too cold. Do not let it touch the molars. The teeth trigger production of adrenaline hormones by causing vibrations to the middle brain. Once stimulated in this way, the middle brain begins manufacturing adrenaline.
Close your mouth; bite down and make the "mmm" sound, feeling the vibration in your molars. This action "opens the gate" and initiates secretion of the adrenaline hormone. Hot or cold water damages the molars, and prevents the production of adrenaline.
There are three types of power- mental, body, and medicinal. Mental power controlled by the third eye is the most powerful. Body power in the form of adrenaline (your KI) is next. Last, is the power provided by medicine. So remember, your mind can be your most powerful weapon.

yep chilled a little is always nicer however :)
gatorade isn't worth the money, besides the only real athletes using it is for advertising purposes, real athletes have their own glucose, sodium mixture made up for best hydration.

Heard this rumor also...

I follow the same workout Ty Law does, he drinks a gallon of room temperature water a day. Why room temp, who knows.

Used to drink it cold, but since following Law, drink it at room temp. Can't tell much difference either way.

because room termperature is generally closer to body temperature, at least it should be when compared to chilled water :)

I read that if you drink a tall glass of ice cold water when you wake up it makes your body start working right away because your body has to warm up the water. I do drink bottled water at room temperture, but just because I like it more.

yes as i explained above, it does have to warm up the water... through increasing the amount of blood in your stomach lining; thus increasing the chances of stomach ulcers. not a good thing.
