God bless those brave officers! Facing down scum in the streets is no fun. I happen to live up here in the twin cities, nobody had the slightest sympathy for the protesters, most of them were professional protesters from out of town.

Two of the punks where from here in Austin, and they
were under surveillance by the secret service previously.

They had bombs on them which were meant for law enforcement
and the secret service.

Congrats to law enforcement for a job well done.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Two men from Austin, Texas, allegedly connected to a group involved in planning to disrupt the Republican National Convention were charged Friday in federal court with illegally possessing Molotov cocktails.
David Guy McKay, 22, and Bradley Neil Crowder, 23, were each charged Sept. 5 with one count of possession of firearms for having Molotov cocktails.
According to the criminal complaint, McKay and Crowder knowingly and intentionally possessed Molotov cocktails from Aug. 31 through Sept. 3.

The arrests
McKay was arrested by St. Paul police during the execution of a search warrant on Sept. 3 at a residence on <st1:street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Dayton Street</st1:address></st1:street>. Crowder was arrested on Sept. 1 for disorderly conduct. The search warrant at the <st1:street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Dayton Street</st1:address></st1:street> residence specifically requested permission to search for “weapons or devices that may be used as weapons.”

Leader & member of group arrested
According to a FBI affidavit, the FBI in Texas began investigating the group, labeled by law enforcement as the Austin Affinity Group, in February 2007. Crowder is listed as the group’s leader, and McKay has been identified as a group member.

Suspected in other acts of anarchy
David McKay and Bradley Crowder are also suspects in an arson at the Texas governor's mansion in June. The FBI believes McKay is photographed in a surveillance video taken in the alley of the governor's mansion, just three minutes before someone threw a Molotov cocktail. Another video shows another man running from the mansion.

Security analyst Fred Burton said, "If I was looking at the Governor's mansion fire I would clearly look at this group and these individuals as suspects."

Meeting in Minneapolis to prep for RNC
According to the affidavit, in May 2008, Crowder allegedly attended a meeting in Minneapolis where several people from throughout the United States met to discuss preparations for protesting and disrupting the RNC.
On Aug. 28, members of the Austin Affinity Group traveled from Austin, Texas, to Minnesota. The group brought a rental trailer with them that contained 35 shields, made from stolen traffic barrels. The shields were constructed with protruding screw heads so that they could be used as offensive weapons. St. Paul police seized these shields on Aug. 31.

Wal-Mart: Your Molotov cocktail headquarters
The affidavit states that McKay and Crowder purchased supplies for constructing Molotov cocktails at a St. Paul Wal-Mart on Aug. 31. Authorities found out that the supplies were being stored at a St. Paul apartment, and both men were observed entering and leaving the apartment by law enforcement surveillance officers.
Law enforcement also learned McKay and Crowder had manufactured eight Molotov cocktails and were storing them at the <st1:street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Dayton Street</st1:address></st1:street> residence.
The affidavit states that on Sept. 1 McKay said he had a “falling out” with others in the group, and that he and some others were going to conduct “red actions” on Sept. 2.

Targeting the Secret Service
During a conversation overheard by law enforcement through electronic surveillance on Sept. 2, McKay, the affidavit states, said that the Molotov cocktails that he and Crowder had manufactured would be thrown at vehicles parked in a parking lot near the <st1:street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Dayton Street</st1:address></st1:street> apartment. The parking lot was used by law enforcement vehicles, and was visibly patrolled by the U.S. Secret Service and the military.
During the same conversation, while discussing the use of Molotov cocktails, McKay was heard saying that he could leave the scene with a police officer burning or dying, and that “it’s worth it if an officer gets burned or maimed.”

Seizing evidence
During the execution of a search warrant by the St. Paul Police Department at the <st1:street w:st="on"><st1:address w:st="on">Dayton Street</st1:address></st1:street> residence where McKay was arrested, officers seized a variety of items, including gas masks, slingshots, helmets, knee pads and containers of a gasoline and oil mixture.
Under the kitchen sink, officers discovered a two-gallon gasoline container that appeared to be the one purchased by McKay, Crowder and others at the Wal-Mart on Aug. 31. In a common area in the basement of the residence, officers found eight assembled Molotov cocktails. In addition to the Molotov cocktails in the home, police also found gas masks, slingshots, helmets, knee pads, and a gasoline-oil mixture.
If convicted, McKay and Crowder each face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

if you assume their intentions were evil then that's a good arguement, but if you assume those weapons were an arsenal for defense against unprovoked storm troopers bashing heads for no reason then it is just.

there were obviously some idiots up there that's not the fucking point

the point is these fascist storm troopers act do whatever the fuck they want to anybody in the vicinity to what is going on

plus from this journalist's observations the group of protesters who had a permit by the way (you need a permit now to protest) was just holding commie/hippie signs and yelling shit peacefully its not like they were rioting and shit.....than the cops just start shooting tear gas into the crowd and firecracker type shit for no reason and start arresting everybody.....the journalists were asking the police specificially where do you want me to go and were scared...and the cops just went after them for no reason and arrested them.....

anyway their actions in the end are waking up more people to what the hell is going on in this country the guy i talked to like i said was previously a moderate that i've had many conversations with in the past....now he's a full blown "kook" after this experience.....

Sorry to burst your bubble, but the protest permit expired at 5 pm, after that the officers ordered them to disperse and when they didnt they arrested them. No drama other than that.

And by the way - wasn't it a fine convention? It paved the way to another republican victory in Nov., and that means 4 more long years of misery for some of you fellas.

yeah this guy told me about the 5 pm thing still doesn't make what happened right....

also it still has nothing to do with the journalists observing the situation with credentials...

do they need a permit now to be in certain places? why did the officers arrest them for no reason...

he also said some guy was in the area standing outside his hotel just smoking a cigarette and some cops just bum rushed him and arrested him for no reason...he wasn't part of the mob.....

like i said originally this guys story was gonna be about the loonie lefties being morons...now he an anti fascist kook....

If there's a bunch of bad guys acting up, and the cops are in the area, I'm gone, because I don't want the cops to think I'm one of the bad guys.

The media takes a chance when they get in the way of the cops doing their job.

I think it's also funny that the first people to bad mouth the cops for doing their job are the first ones to scream for a cop when something goes wrong.

I prefer civil order over civil disorder.

the journalists were asking the cops specifically where do you want me to go and sitting down with hands on their heads but they still got messed with and arrested anyway

just astounds me how many people are complacent and just fine with this type of shit

you reap what you sow

they continue to take more freedoms away from us one little step at at time....

the people were being civil. it was the fact that they wanted to disagree by protesting that got them bashed sprayed and arrested.

bb u would have fit right in about the time of nazi germany when the people were saying they're not coming after me so i don't care.

also here's a ron paul kooks observations from your great convention jeffrey

--------------------------------

Just thought I would share with you what''s really on here at the Republican National Convention and have attached an article in yesterday''s Washington Times.

Fox reported that the Convention was packed. Not true! 1000''s of empty seats at the convention. Fox reports we, delegates were attacked by protesters. Not true! There were fifteen foot high metal fences a 1000 yards away prevented us from even seeing the protesters. There is probably a larger contingent of military and police than there are delegates and alternate. Buses each with an armed law enforcement officials take us from the hotel to the convention each day. Upon arrival you go through two level of electronic security like the airport.
Once you arrive on the convention floor, they have security guards every ten feet facing the rows of delegates. No delegate is allowed to speak throughout the convention. Periodically the security guards, will tell the delegates to rise and cheer. Prior to the convention, delegates were told no banners or signs would be allowed. At opening of the convention, the convention floor was flood with McCain banners.
At different times, there were a large contingent of men with McCain baseball caps at the entranceway out of site at the entrances to the aisles. When Joe Lieberman or one of the other McCain celebrities were introduced, the young men with red baseball caps were release and sent down the aisles to cheers and then returned to back of the convention floor to await the next cue to fill the aisle make it appear that the convention floor was filled.
Neither the platform committee nor any speaker spoke of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan or the sad state of our economy. As televised on C-Span, no more than 20 minutes was devoted to any platform item.

No platform resolution submitted by a Ron Paul delegate was approved.
No Ron Paul delegate was selected to serve on either the Platform or Rules committee.
No delegate/alternate had an opportunity to read the rules because they were not made available until the start of the convention.

Thus the opportunity to offer floor amendments was impossible. As Ron Paul delegate, I was made to feel like a turd in punch bowl.....may have something to do with the large Ron Paul button I was wearing and my refusal to stand amidst all the cheering for folks like Joe Lieberman. When asked my the Maine delegation whip if I would vote for John McCain, I told them I would be voting for Ron Paul. His reply was the Maine delegation would not announce 20 votes for John McCain and 1 for Ron Paul. Rather they would just announce 20 votes for McCain. Apparently, he felt that uttering Ron Paul''s name would be giving Ron Paul too much publicity.

More than one delegate shared by view that control over the delegates speech and movements along with the ever-present police seemed somewhat
totalitarian and intimidating.

Were it not for the wonderful hospitality of the legion of Minneapolis and St. Paul volunteers and staff who catered to our every whim, this would have been a pretty dismal experience. Additionally, we have made several new friend across the country amidst Ron Paul and the Maine delegation.

When we get back, we will need a little rest to what future contribution we might make to get our beloved country back on track.
