where can i find this info for this year and past years?

i've done a very preliminary analysis of teams from this year with zero and 5 returning starters and some of the WCC teams i know had lots vs. few starters coming back... and the results look really promising.

the nice thing is the info doesn't look easily "googlable" ala ncaa football returning starters (phil steele and probably 5 other sources).

i guess i can try to dig up my preview magazine and/or go buy another one.

thanks in advance!!!... the fact that the info isn't easily found makes me think it might be valuable. it works fairly well the 1st few weeks of NCAAF and that info is everywhere on internet.

stevieray, thx....

i was able to cobble together returning starter info for 2 major conferences...

ACC i had very detailed info (returning scoring and rebounding %).... lots of returning stats: NC and virginia = combined 19-10. and those were the 2 obvious teams to taken...... lacking returning starters: miami, GT, VT = combined 16-18..... so ACC worked really welll

Big 10 didn't work well.... less detailed info. basically teams with 4 returning starters and teams with 2 of them.... 6 teams with 4 returning starters = 45% ATS. 4 teams with 2 starters =49% ATS

so not that great for big 10

did one more conference.. pac 12...

had both basic starter info and more detailed info...

4 starters back. utah and colorado... .generally washington had good returning production so give them a half share in my tally... utah/colorado 17-10 ATS although it's all utah. washington is 6-8 but 50% weight for 3-4.... so 20-14. almost 60%

2 starters = asu, cal but cal has tons of production returning so dropped them (and their ats is 50% anyway). asu = 7-9

1 starter = OSU, oregon, ucla, usc. overall 32-30 ATS. but OSU is 11-3. ucla is 6-11. oregon and usc are both around 50%.....

so PAC 12 worked out extremely well ex-OSU.... of course you could say it worked out badly ex utah/UCLA

WCC all i had was commentary.... portland, san diego lots of returning guys. byu somewhat too (so half weight). LMU almost all new guys (and i know they lost that little PG who was probably as dominant a player for his team as almost anyone in country)

portland/sandiego/BYU.... 22-17 including BYU at a half weight.... lmu at 7-9... so pretty good for the WCC...

"experience" is probably a better barometer in college hoops ... kenpom keeps that updated

4 youngest teams in major ncaab hoops are kentucky, niagara, vandy, USC

Most experienced are BC, St Johns, Col St, Kent St

thanks for the heads up on kenpom :) ... i will subscribe...

and i really like the idea of a statistical measure instead of 4, 3 2 starters returning. the % scoring/rebounding was good but could only get it for certain teams and it was alot of work. nice to have a summary number.

those names are interesting... i would almost always exempt kentucky/duke/kansas/NC/etc. from the analysis as they get such stud freshmen.
thx again!!

vis a vis those kenpom names

least experienced (excl ky who are 8-7 ats. not sure if it includes tonight) are 19-22,,,, niagara is terrible ats.

most experienced is 21-24... colorado state is huge negative
