American.if I were going to open a resteraunt,I would look at Granada in Nicaragua. The market here seems to be a bit saturated.

Isn't there a ton of restaurants and bars in CR? Those are probably the toughest two businesses to get into in CR, and definately the toughest to sell, if the property isn't owned. When you're selling a restaurant that's leasing the location, all it's worth to a buyer is the value of the equipment and furniture. The lease is worth nothing, as are the improvements that have been done to the property, because you can't take them with you. The bottom line is that the landlord can get you out of there basically anytime he wants, if he desires to do so. Often, you end up getting a small fraction of what you initially invested. (Been there, done that.)

I never understand why people open these operations in any location in the world. Most of the time the best thing they seem to do is employ your family members. Only restaurants that do well are either very unique or chains with good management and uniform experiences. Amazing in a business where 80-90% of owners fail within 2 years there are always new suckers with fresh money coming along to try.

Amer,very valid point. Would never have a resteraunt or bar here without owning the property.

Why not sell to another family member.....unless I have the blessing of CR Minister of trade.....I wouldn't touch it. I know a guy on another forum that always says " don't give it to me, sell it too me with words and reason."

Not saying no....just give us more info.

Sounds like it would be cheaper to sit down with the landlord of each property, and skip this guy, wait for the leases to be defaulted or expire.

Is he selling $55,000 worth of equipment and furniture? Doesn't look like it from the pics.

Does the lemonade stand come with free gym membership?

I have owned/operated 4 restaurants/bar over 22 years and although I dont know the business environment in CR, I would say the post above by Adam Selene is the right thing to do. Not what alitercorpsa wants to hear but its business. Sorry cant see you get any commission out of this one.

The concept is a turn key operation down to trade marks and a working company with all standardized receips so that the products can be sold in stores and with the goal of franchising. The owner is not going to leave everything there were someone can walkin and just open the restaurants. He will sell it by the piece, he's not dumb. this business was making money within 6 months of opening the doors. Just check it out and shoot a number.
