If Marcus Mariota is still on the board at No. 6 overall on April 30, the New York Jets will trade that pick to the Philadelphia Eagles, a new report says.

There has long been speculation that the Eagles would try to trade up for the former Oregon Ducks quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner. One reporter even said Philly would “do whatever it takes” to land Mariota, who played under current Eagles head coach Chip Kelly when he began his college career at Eugene.
The most logical scenario has always been that the Jets and Eagles would swap picks as long as Mariota is available, and that’s what Metro sports writer Kristian Dyer reported Wednesday.

A source told Dyer it was “highly unlikely” that the Jets would draft Mariota at No. 6 and that they instead would trade the pick.

“Philadelphia would make that move and pay that price. We’re talking multiple picks and a player,” the source told Dyer. “The Jets would be open to moving the pick and the Eagles have internally prepared to move up in the draft. There are contingencies in place and they know that Marcus is that perfect fit.”

This goes along with everything we have been hearing in the lead up to the draft. The Buccaneers are currently expected to take Jameis Winston at No. 1 overall, while the Titans, Jags, Raiders and Redskins are unlikely to take QBs (one of their QBs even thinks he could beat out Winston or Mariota). The only issue is that knowing that the Eagles are prepared to trade with the Jets, some other team could try to leapfrog them if they really want Mariota that badly. But, again, that is contingent upon a team wanting Mariota more than the Eagles do, which seems unlikely.

The Eagles have already had a bold offseason, highlighted by the trade of LeSean McCoy to Buffalo this week. With Kelly now having a bigger say in personnel decisions, don’t be surprised if he prevails and lands the quarterback he desires.

I think the fact this story leaked hurts the chances right?

Can't any team higher than that just bluff and be like hey eagles we are taking him --- what are you giving up

Didn't Chip Kelly say Nick Foles was his starting QB for the next 1000 years in late 2013...........Nice coach speak.

I just can't believe how stupid these millionare GM's and owners are. It is unbelievable. I need to work for 1 of these teams. I could save them millions.. Haven't they noticed an obvious trend?

I understand it is not easy to get a franchise qb as they are not available every year, that is why you trade down as you saw with Redskins as they gave up a #2 pick a couple years ago. . but some of this stuff is craziness.

" Man, Vince Young is electrifying"... "Jameis Winston can make every throw" "Johny football has it, he beat Bama at Bama and he is mobile", "Mark Sanchez has that same persona as Joe Namath did", It goes on and on and on.

Truth is, in this weak ass draft, if you take a quarterback wait until the 3rd round and take a flyer on Bryce Petty. Better numbers than the other guy, pocket passer, more accurate than the other guy and of course more intelligent. He may be shit, but in the 3rd round, you take a shot. Because without a qb, you have zero chance to succeed in the long term.

Notice how Patriots, Colts, Packers, Broncos since Manning are in it every year. I don't count Seattle because they happen to have top D and running game. That is not sustainable as you prob. have 4 people on that defense who think they are the best player and should be paid like it.

Next years possible be a big one for qb's. Possible Hackenburg and Paxton Lynch. Add in Gunner Kiel, Cardale Jones, Jacoby Brissett, Conner Cook and a few others.

Redskins need a QB

Why is that? They have RG3. He is wonderful. He is fast. You just cant replace that kinda speed at the qb position. Man...He is special.

PS: Hahahaha. Suckers. Who is dumb enough to draft a running qb? That is the guy I do a deal with.
