when all the talk and the coverage was about all these sensational freshmen 24/7? they were all going to the FF, they were all lottery picks, it was like CBB was all about them

damn, did that nonsense disappear or what? reality set in

they may have great potential, but they're just kids for heaven's sake

I think it would be best for the NBA and CBB if guys had to stay for at least 3 years like CFB.

Right on point. They still got a whole lot to learn

Tell you something else Willie. Smart should've left last year.

I'm sorry, I might be in the minority here but I don't think he's very good. He takes terrible shots and doesn't play within the flow of the game. A lot to learn.

He'd still be better than anyone else drafted last year other than Michael carter-Williams. This has to be the worst rookie class in NBA history. The 1st pick of the draft should be in the D league, lol. Smart should have came out last year.

I don't think he's better than Oldadipo or Burke.

Smart is good, but it appears he should of left last year. His head has hurt his stock this year

then again, March makes miracles happen. There were at least 3 UConn players I didn't think were leaving on Feb 15th, and they were lottery picks before March ended

Butler, Gordon & Villanueava. Kemba on the fringe of that list as well

I'm pretty sure my boy Bazz improved his stock greatly by returning. Some thought he should of left last year because of the weak class, they argued he had nothing more to prove. I argued he could move into the mid 1st round with a great senior season. He may not be there yet, but a special run in March can make it happen for him.

just checked mock drafts for the first time this year

Smart still a high lottery pick

Bazz early second round is the best I've seen for him

Burke is close, he's much better than Oladipo. Regardless this rookie class is sad.

You are out of your mind. Oladipo is a stud. That kid has shown more improvement over a three year stretch than anyone I can remember.

expectations out of the coming lottery classes should be reduced

the talent level is at a peak right now in the nba, and for any 18 year old to come in and add immediate all-star quality impact is a lofty and unreasonable expectation imo.

even legends like david robinson and shaq went to college for 3 years or more before dropping 20 and 10 in their rookie seasons
d12 didn't even win ROY his first year
blake griffin was the last rookie to drop 20/10 and he even took a year off on top of playing for OU for two years
damian lillard is a 4 year player and i believe that is why he is doing so well.

it is more reasonable to think all these one and dones will take at least a year, if not two, to develop into a first or second option.

+1. Not too mention where talking NBA here, I can see smart after years 1 and 2 taking nights off, plus his attitude sucks. When hes not shooting well it just gets to him. Oladipo is the exact opposite. Hustles all the time, doesnt let a bad shooting night affect him, kid is light years ahead of Smart Mentally and fairly even physically (nod Smart)

Bazz needs to get that wrist or finger or whatever it is on his left hand straightened out, it is affecting his shooting IMO.

I also think that there is a sort of stigma attached to a lot of these players if they don't leave their Freshman year too, now. Largely because the longer they stick around, some of these draft evaluators and talking heads have more time to pick apart their game and put a 'damaged goods' type of tag on them for sticking around. It seems that all the 'great' players are drafted as freshman anymore. Part of the new culture today.

Disagree, think Smart is a better player than Oladipo. Maybe "much" better was the wrong choice of words. But he is better.
