I remember many years ago, during war time, our enterteiners went
overseas and entertained our troops (GOD BLESS BOB HOPE) he must
have made fifty trips, and all the others who also made many trips.
they went all over the country standing on street corners selling bonds,
they started USO CLUBS and CANTEENS,they danced with the service men
talked to them, and let them know how proud of them they were......
We all joined hands and became one United States, the children use to
bring ten cents or a quarter a week ( whatever you could afford) to buy
war stamps, the women went to work in war plants
and when our troops came home we saluted them and were very proud of
them.....
And I say GOD BLESS them all, we were the greatest generation ever..
GOD BLESS ALL THE VETERANS AND GOD BLESS AMERICA..................

Well said and I could not agree more. It is so sad that so many people in this country these days do not give a rat's ass about the men and women who serve this country. That includes the 'entertainers' in music and films. Quite frankly most of those a-holes should be shipped out of this country which they love to bash so much

I would not exist if not for the USO...

In 1951, during the Korean Conflict, my Daddy was on the USS Corregidor, a "small" aircraft carrier homeported in Bayonne, NJ. (Hope the spelling is correct). He was from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and would frequent the USO clubs in New York City. He met a city girl there who was a hostess, and they would dance the night away. Against the rules, she would save all her dances for him. He eventually went off to sea, but they kept in touch. They married, and he was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1954; they had 5 children and I am the youngest.

My mother, whose 78th birthday is 7 December, has fond memories of her "tour" in the USO, but she now enjoys living in the South away from the snow and sub-freezing weather.

I'll always appreciate the USO for its support of the Troops, but mostly because of its "development" of my family.

God bless all our military!!

For those who did not return

imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do, nothing to kill or die for, and no religion too

For those who were maimed, and made the supreme
sacarifice, who never got to see their children again
or to hug their wives or mothers and fathers, so people
like you can enjoy your freedom of speech, we thank GOD that at that time there were not that many of you,or today we would be speaking GERMAM.............

GOD BLESS ALL VETERANS

yeah, support our troops... when I see people who oppose war I have no problem... but they better be supporting our good damn troops >:) anyone who spits on a soldier because he's doing his duty deserves to be put on the chopping block.

This does not belong in a remembrance post. If their were no countries there would still be plenty of reasons to kill or die for maybe for Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

I love the Beatles and Lennon as much as the next person but Imagine was just the Communist Manifesto by Marx in a song. Please don't quote that when remembering our soldiers.
