I'm on a cruise ship in Bermuda as I type this. This is the life - as good aa it gets!

I had this gamne marked months ago. The Jets were decimated by off season free agent desetions - most of the Jets cream went to Washington, while the Jets front office did little to get equal or better replacements. And now Chad has broken his wrist, which spells disaster fot the Jets offense.
What all of this means is that the 'skins should enjoy superior field position on offense and defense from their special teams(John Hall and Chad Morton both ex-Jets), while the Jets will be lucky to score at all - Vinnie is old - I don't believe he'll have four good quarters in him.
This team is now Steve Spurriers - all of it; I expect you'll see him and the 'Skins make a grab for the NFC East crown.

Good luck!

My original pick was the Jets, but it looks like emotion is going to win this game, so I'll have to flip. Have a great trip.

Vinny - Vinny - Vinny and the Jets
Pro Career
A 2-time Pro Bowl selection who is making his return after missing almost all of 1999 due to injury, has played in 157 NFL games (146 starts) and has piled up numbers that put him close to the league's all-time Top 20 lists for completions, yards and TD...in 13 seasons he is 4,613-2,569-32,575-55.7а5 TD-191 INT for a 75.5 career passer rating, has 25 300-yard games, including 2 400-yarders in his career...has 3 3,000-yard passing seasons to his credit and was the 20th player in NFL history to pass for 30,000 career yards, has the 9th-best TD passes per game rating in NFL history (1.30), owns Jets' team records for TD passes in a season (29), most pass attempts in a single game (63) and most pass completions in a game (42-tied with Richard Todd), also owns the team postseason records for attempts (52) and completions (31) in a playoff game, has a 13-3 record as a starter for the Jets, ended prolific college career by winning the Heisman Trophy and being the 1st selection in the 1986 draft, selected by TB'spent six seasons with the Bucs before moving to CLE in 1993, after 3 seasons in CLE he moved with the team to BAL where he played for 2 seasons, earning his first Pro Bowl honor in 1996'signed with the Jets as a FA in June of 1998

At least you have to root for him getting 40,000 yards. And whatever happened to Warren Moon (announcer).

Their are some factors in the jets favor to consider. I think wash will be susceptible to the jets on the ground. Wash has marginal players at both dt positions. The jets have a all-pro at c that will win the battle in the middle of the field. Curtis Martin played hurt, sometimes badly hurt last year and did not look like the same player. Martin is healthy and because of it he will be a above average back again. That is my best guess. I fully expect the jet off to go through martin first. Testerverde has not played much in the preseason and that is a negative. While I dont look for him to light it up, a veteran like him won't need the time a young qb would to get ready. At 40 he has seen it all. Gannon is not a spring chicken either. Teterverde's arm is still a above average one. Ramsey and Canidate are guys that still have a lot of question marks. Ramsey has the arm, but the head is not their yet. I see this as a game the jets can win if Curtis Martin gets it done.

I agree with a.u.

Spurrier had better show me he can coach before I lay three with the Skins against a more disciplined, more physical opponent.

Good luck.

Oh, and if you see Gopher on that boat, tell him that his state is in the shitter.

We just got the boot from Bermuda - a day and a half early! Damned Fabian!!!
Other factors I didn't mention in my analysis is Hermans record in the first seven games which was 3-4 in '01 and 2-7 in '02; Curtis is getting very old for a back and injury prone, and the only good reciever that Vinnie will be familair with will be Chrebet.
Add poor field position to this mix, and I see the Jets offense struggling - especially in the second half.

Since I can't head fior the beach, I'm heading to the casino - maybe I'll win!

Good luck1
