This will be my one and only GOY.
Sometime you roll situations into statistics and get plays. This one definitely falls into that category. For the 1st time all Season, Ole Miss was beat at the line of scrimmage. It was a physical beatdown, and Ole Miss is hurting in more ways than one. The reality of that game is had LSU capitalized on its opportunities inside the 10 in the 1st half the game would have likely ended up 20 or 24 to 7. Ole Miss was beaten; instead LSU did not capitalize and allowed Ole Miss to create not only a physical loss, but a mental loss, blowing it at the end to at least go for the tie.
One thing I learned about Ole Miss this year when I went to Oxford, was in its greatest event on campus, it was still only a great party. The game venue is not intimidating at all. I have no concerns about that aspect of the contest. If you checked the youtube videos after the loss, Ole Miss fans fell back into that losing mentality. They are used to losing, the undefeated season is over and they are going to have hard time mentally today. Denzel is gone for the year and Cody Prewitt is not 100% and neither is Robert.
One of the things I've liked with Auburn is the slow entrance of Roc Thomas. It's time for him to play, he adds an element to this offense that is not as high a standard as Marshall/Mason, but the added speed at the position in certain situations makes that read option tough to defend. Auburn has big and tall wide receivers. Payne is the bruiser back and Thomas is he speed back. It makes this team more dangerous. Auburn survived its look ahead and never quire figured out the USC Offense. But the USC Offense is balanced.
Last year Ole Miss could run the ball; this year they are 81st. They are not balanced and it was inevitable that it would eventually catch up with them unless fate called for the undefeated season. that is gone. Bo Wallace is not going to throw for 400 yards. They are also not going to run the football well today. It's only going to take one finesse play to put the gut punch into this crowd. They have that losing mentality in the back of their mind and so does this team. Auburn is not the team you want to play the following week. The win at Kansas State will stand as much tougher to do than beating Ole Miss.....again. This is a critical game for both. You have to go with the team that knows how to win, not the team that is used to losing and had their undefeated season pounded out of them the week before.
Obviously from a statistical standpoint Auburn has the much better Offense that can run the football. Their Defense, although it has not played well the last two weeks is still Top 50, and the Ole Miss Offense will be a step down in defending. Strength against strength....I'm going to take the team that can run, and the Offense that is finesse against a beat up but very good Defense. Auburn has played 5 Top 50 Defenses and 5 Top 60 Offenses. Ole Miss Statistics are basically the same.....going with the team that has been there before.
Line is bad for me but I don't care....
GOY
Auburn -1/2 for max 5 Units
Also playing Kevin Harvick for 2 Units over Kyle Busch in Nationwide Race in an hour. Above game will be my only team play of the day. Still eying a few totals.
