Miami at Louisville: Things to consider......
1st and foremost, the Louisville fans will be FIRED up.....they serve alcohol and will be drunk by gametime. They are blacking out and celebrating their entrance into the ACC and getting Bobby Petrino back. Petrino stole his old OC who was head coaching UAB and hired Todd Grantham. There have been reports of serious friction between Petrino and Grantham, to the point that most think that if Petrino would have already fired him if he could. Unfortunately the deal given to the DC would pay him a million dollars. The other issue that makes you wonder how this team responds is having a coach like Petrino vs. Charlie Strong. One player who quit said the players hated him and referenced that he was mean and and still Mother Fucking Bobby Petrino.
Louisville if you look at the numbers was the #1 Defense in the nation, and had the 16th rated Passing Offense. Look like RB Michael Dyer and WR Devante Parker are out. That leaves 6 starters on Offense and 4 starters on Defense. People are raving about a true frosh RB LJ Scott so look for him to get reps with Dominique Brown. Will Gardner will play QB and he saw action in 6 games last year. With 4 of 5 starters back on the OL, you would think they will have the weapons to score. On Defense, they lost 6 of 8 starters; one would think that Strong did not leave the cubbard bare.
As for Miami, their Total Offense was 48th, 72nd in Rushing and 33 Passing. The Defense last year was horrible, 77 Rushing and 90th in Passing Defense. Miami will have 7 back on Offense and 6 back on defense as Safety Rayshawn Jenkins is out for the year with an ACL. Most say that on Defense for the front seven they are still struggling to find talent and depth. On Offense Duke Johnson is healthy but you can tell by the numbers above from last year that he was not the main reason the won games. Keep in mind that QB Brad Kaaya, who was playing high school last year was not not given the nod because he is such a badass. Expected QB Starter Ryan Williams is still recovering from an ACL injury and his backup Kevin Olsen is serving a one game suspension.
Miami will have revenge on their minds as they have been blown out by Louisville the last 2 times, I think something like 67-16 combined. I guess the real question is......is playing Louisville the 1st game of the season with what they are bringing to the table the best time to play them? And the same goes for Louisville, with new coaches who don't get along with one another, with a definite different style than Charlie Strong, and a move from 3-3-5 on Defense to 3-4?
Play later as I digest all of this....
