Oh great...now Cleveland has no chance at Ray Allen and Michael Redd...next on their list was Bobby Simmons.

Good article on Bobby in espn.com today. All LA has to do is not be cheap which means Bobby will be playing somewhere else next year.

Coveted free agent Michael Redd agreed Thursday to re-sign with the Milwaukee Bucks, choosing to stay with the only NBA team he's played for over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"He's going to get a max deal in Milwaukee for $90 to $96 million, depending on what the cap is, over six years," Redd's agent, Kevin Poston, told The Associated Press early Thursday afternoon. "Michael started his career in Milwaukee and hopes to end it there, too.

"It was a tough decision between the Bucks and the Cavaliers, but Michael's heart is in Milwaukee and he's excited about his future there," Poston added.

Redd, who was the top remaining free agent available, met with James and Cavs officials in Cleveland on Wednesday, one day after meeting with the Bucks.

The 6-foot-6 shooting guard averaged a career-high 23 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists last season. He has averaged 17.7 points while making 39.4 percent of his 3-point shots since Milwaukee drafted him in second round, with the 43rd overall pick, in the 2000 NBA draft.

Poston said Redd, who turns 26 in August, is excited about playing with former Utah center Andrew Bogut, the No. 1 pick overall in last month's draft, and for the Bucks' next coach.

"Michael had Andrew have spoken at great length and are really looking forward to starting something special in Milwaukee," said Poston, an agent based in suburban Detroit. "We also know who the Bucks are focused in on to be their next coach, and Michael is very comfortable with him."

The Bucks signed Bogut to a multiyear contract last week and have been searching for a new coach since firing Terry Porter last month. ESPN.com's Andy Katz reported Thursday that the Bucks are expected to hire Warriors assistant Terry Stotts.

Redd is a very nice player, however I strongly disagree about him being a max player. The Bucks will regret this decision down the road. I keep thinking of Eddie Jones when hearing about this contract. I actually think Eddie may bring more to the table than Redd. Redd is more or less a one dimensional player. Bucks will def regret this max deal

Agree completely, very good but not a max player in any way shape or form.

I couldn't agree more. I honestly like Bobby Simmons more than Redd. I know that sounds crazy, but I would be saying that even if he wasn't a Clipper. Redd is a scorer on a team with no other options. He is a great shooter, but that doesn't mean he deserves a max contract.

He is much better off the dribble than Simmons though. And you just said you don't overrate Simmons in the other thread. Lol!! Just playing Clip, you know I respecet your opinions. I think your Clipper glasses are tweaking your judgement a bit though.

Simmons is a much more complete player. The only advantage Redd has is being able to create his own shot. Simmons is much better in the post, a much better defender, better rebounder, better passer...he is a much more complete player.

Look at the numbers Simmons put up as the #3 option compared to Redd as the go to guy.

Imagine what Redd would be like on a team like the Cavs where he is not the #1 option. He would be Eric Piatkowski.

The best scenario for me this offseason is still possible. Move Maggette for a pure shooting guard and sign Bobby Simmons.

Keep in mind Redd was getting double constantly as he is the only weapon on that sorry ass team. If he played alongside Lebron he would WAY better. Those two games would fit perfectly together. Redd's biggest strength remains shooting from the land of plenty, but they are consistently under duress when he is the only thing going and he still finds a way to score. Granted he should be putting up way more assists though, no doubt about that, but no way Simmons could even flirt with constant doubles and such and approach the numbers Redd is getting. All this being said though, Redd is not a max player by any stretch of the imaginattion, nor is Simmons more than a mid-level exception type of player.

I'm glad that you guys agree. Redd is a nice young player, however he is a ROLE PLAYER. Nothing more. He should be a second, or more likely, third option on a team. The fact that the Bucks just gave him a max contract, 15 million a year, is a joke. But then again, maybe he is worth it. I mean Adonal Foyle makes 7 million a year. Redd has to be twice as good as Foyle, right? LOL.

Approach what numbers? The only stat he has over Simmons is points.

Simmons grabs 1.41 steals, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists.
Redd doesn't even get a steal a game (0.87), only pulls down 4.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists. None of those stats have anything to do with being double teamed.

I agree Simmons couldn't shoot 46.6% from the field and 43.5% from downtown like he did last season if he faced double teams, but those are amazing numbers for a perimeter player. Redd shot 44.1% and 35.5% (because he gets doubled).

All Redd brings to the table is a player that can shoot and score. Simmons outplays him in every other area (and he is a more than capable shooter which is proven with his stats + 85% from the line).

Scoring is a pretty important part of the game in my estimation. Simmons plays much more small forward so he should get more rebounds.

I don't think Redd would have put up the numbers Simmons did if he were on the Clippers last season.

Redd is a very similar player in that he should be a teams 2nd or 3rd option...just as Simmons is for the Clippers. But Redd doesn't do the other things that make his team better. If he isn't the #1 scoring option, he is almost useless.

Redd scored 6 and a half points a game more than Simmons...but he also took a lot more shots (5 and a half more a game).

I'll take a better rebounder, passer, and defender any day of the week as my 3rd option. Especially when you still put up the offensive numbers Simmons puts up.

This post makes sense in theory but one of the Clippers problems is they struggle to put in in the hole at the end of close games, when the intensity is increased. Redd would help solve that problem in a big way, much like he would be a much more valuable commodity in playoff basketball. By the way Simmons isn't a way better defender, a little I can let you get away with. And don't tell me because he has better steal numbers he is WAY better. You and I are both too smart to try and pull that one.
