Ravens ink Steve Smith for 3 years

The Baltimore Ravens have reached a three-year deal with wide receiver Steve Smith, the team announced Friday.

The 34-year-old Smith, who ranks 19th all time in league history in receptions, was released Thursday by the Carolina Panthers after 13 seasons.

The Ravens have been looking for help at receiver since Anquan Boldin was traded to San Francisco before the 2013 season.
Smith caught 64 passes for 746 yards with four touchdowns in 2013, helping Carolina capture the NFC South title. He is the Panthers' all-time leader in catches (836), receiving yards (12,197) and touchdowns (67).

Ravens are screwed because of the big deal they gave Flacco. An aging, slower WR isn't going to change that. Horrible Flacco contract.

I agree with what you said about the Flacco contract. They gave him that deal after the Superbowl. He caught lightning in a bottle once and they are going to overpay him for about a half decade because of it.

Agree 100%. I have been big fans of both of these guys over there careers and Boldin doesnt get the respect he deserves. He hqd almost every WR record out there too for like first to 100 catches, 200 catches etc.... until AJ Green passed him in a few.

Flacco's cap hit in 2013 was 6MM, in 2014 and 2015 cap hit increases to 14MM. After that they will restructure since cap hit balloons to 29MM in 2016. Everyone knows this was a 3 year deal. Over paid? Perhaps. Crippling to salary cap? Nah.
