A publicist for Dolla says the Atlanta-based rapper has been fatally shot at a Los Angeles mall after a dispute with another man.

Publicist Sue Vannasing says Dolla, whose real name is Roderick Anthony Burton II, was shot in the head Monday afternoon at the Beverly Center near West Hollywood and Beverly Hills. Police and coroner's officials have not confirmed the victim's identity.

Vannasing told the Los Angeles Times that Burton and another rapper who goes by the name D.J. Shabbazz, were waiting at a valet stand after a shopping trip when a gunman shot Dolla.

Police Officer Karen Reyner says a person of interest with a gun was detained at Los Angeles International Airport and is being questioned.

Dolla worked on the soundtrack for the 2006 dance film "Step Up."

Vannasing told the Los Angeles Times that Burton and another rapper who goes by the name D.J. Shabbazz, were waiting at a valet stand after a shopping trip when a gunman shot Dolla. It appears that the shooter was the valet, who shot the rapper after being handed 1 dollar. "Dolla my ass Mofo, I'll give you Dolla! There Bitch! Now you is the real Dolla." The valet was last seen driving off in Dolla's Chevy and was later apprehended at the Popeye Chicken drive thru in LAX.
