Just goes to show you how history looks back on the Presidents with a more realistic eye...than short term public perception.

Truman was about as popular as Bush is right now...when he left office.

Kennedy at #11 is ridiculous...pappy Bush...what did he do? :think2:

Why!? Where would you put him?

"FDR is top for me, because he navigated America out of depression and through the Second World War." Tom Baldwin, Washington Bureau chief

Bush Sr. at 20 was the shocker to me

well i have a very alternative view of FDR and the new deal than the history books do

IMO the new deal and such dragged out the depression longer by price fixing and all the other stuff

also FDR gave us things like fannie mae, social security, and he paved the course for our super socialistic monstrosity our country has become....which are now big big problem for our nation and unsustainable

anyway get ready to experience the 2nd round of new deal first hand

its coming from obama

as he "navigates us" out of this nasty recession (will be worst global recession since 30s.....might be called depression in history books) to come

although this round of "navigating" (saving the federal reserve and fiat which is necessary for the big government statists and socialists to survive) could be a little more troublesome

back than there weren't things like UE pay and all the other handouts people take for granted now and expect from nanny state government

if they just have trouble providing the basic necessities to many their gig might finally be up as the have nots finally wake up and realize government is the problem

Here is the reasoning they gave on Clinton, And I agree should be higher.

23. Bill Clinton

1993-2001 (Democratic)

Clinton was one of the most controversial figures in our list with some of the panel rating him highly while others buried him at the foot of their rankings.

Clinton was the first Democrat to be re-elected President since Franklin Roosevelt. He successfully passed progressive legislation, including the right to take unpaid leave during pregnancy or illness and an increase in the minimum wage but he failed with other proposals such as his medical reforms.

His second term was dominated by the Monica Lewinsky scandal and attempted impeachment but he still left office with a 65 per cent approval rating.

"Promised so much, delivered so little and embarrassed everyone." Ben Macintyre, writer-at-large.

what did clinton do

besides cheerlead along a unsustainable tech bubble (which is why we had low UE and balanced budget....big influx of tax revenue....at one point)

had nothing to do with policy....had to do with technology coming of age and people thinking that the growth rates of the late 90s was sustainable....which they weren't

play around in somolia and kosovo

and get his shlong sucked by an intern

in general the times makes the president

the president doesn't make the times

if 600k+ americans didn't kill each other to "free the slaves" (there was alot more reasoning going on behind the civil war than meets the eye as far as the powers that be are concerned)

lincoln would be a nobody

LBJ number 12??? :missingte:missingte Stop it , please, yer killin me.

Besides gettting 10 TIMES the number of people killed than Bush did in a war that HE KNEW HE COULDN'T WIN, he gave us the "Great Society" which, despite Tiz's claims about FDR, was the foundation for the nanny state we're mired in today.

True, getting the Civil Rights bill passed was a great accomplishment and probably prevented a second civil war, but the damage he did far overshadowed the positive. Number 41, at BEST.

Its amazing that a sex scandal of all things tarnishes a great presidents legacy. The moral right lambastes a man for atleast having heterosexual relations while on the other hand the same moral hypocrits pander for pole in the mens room.

I honestly will never understand that.

It must be hard to understand anything in this world...looking through a lens of simplistic nonsense the way you do.

What a ridiculous way to look at it. :ohno:

Yawn.

Your arguments are so Fucking lame. So, you equate everyone that
criticizes Clinton for cheating on his wife with an intern, and then
lying repeatedly under oath (getting impeached in the process),
to someone who is looking for gay sex
in a men's room.

That the best you got?

Do you have a college education?

Hey bible thumper, did you read the author's reasoning for the ranking or do you just read responses on every thread??
