Rank your favorite tracks

This was an interesting debate I was having last night at the Big M with a few of my fellow degenerates. What would you rank your favorite tracks to go to/wager on?

Thoroughbreed-
1. Santa Anita- Only visited once, but the setting, atmosphere & history of the place was great. Huge pools = some chances for big value.
2. Belmont- My favorite of the NYRA circuit. I know most prefer Saratoga, but I've always done better here; much more convenient
3. Delmar- where the surf meets the turf. Nicest setting, good place for a few margaritas, etc.
4. Keeneland- never been; usually very full fields.
5 Monmouth
6. Saratoga
7. Gulfstream- should be higher- but I always lose here!!
8. Emerald Downs
9. Aqueduct
10. Arlington Park

Harness-
1. The Meadowlands- my home away from home. Tough to handicap, but usually pretty good prices to be found.
2. Balmoral
3. The Meadows- never been, but I've always done pretty well betting there. Good rule of thumb, bet against Dave Palone and whichever 3-5 he's on.
4. Dover Downs
5. Freehold- Larry Lederman my favorite race announcer. Gives updates on the Mets/Yankees game while the race is in progress. Classic.
6. Woodbine
7. Northfield
8. Yonkers
9. Red Mile
10. Monticello
11. Deleware County Fair- Little Brown Jug!!

I seem to do better at the one mile tracks - probably because they have bigger purses, better drivers, and more consistent horses.

fyi..here in la there is talk that hollywood is being sold and that racing may move to a small track in cypress...los alamitios...speculation is running high...santa anita and del mar gets my vote...

I saw that. I guess Hollywood is kind of a dump nowadays; wagering there usually isn't too productive either, 5 horse fields, plenty of chalk. Would Los Al then run year round with a mix of t-bed/quarterhorse meets?

I shouldv'e put Woodbine/Mohawk higher, but that track always kills me too!! Homestretch seems to go on forever. Big Jacky Mo, Luc Oullette fan though.

booze..i hear the owners of los al are looking into building a larger track with turf as well...they likely will run q horse...trotters and tbreds...and i would guess they will end special events such as fair related racing...hollywood is looking bleak these days...the casino did not help matters and land in the area is likely put to better use...would not be surprised to see the forum go as well...

yea...i would not be surprised...you know they were looking at selling or closing down fairplex in pomona (the bull ring)...beadeker is the guy who i think holds the cards in the hollypark deal...guess they see los al and orange county as having more $$$...but i tell ya...been there at nite and its thin...mostly seniors from local retirement villa...but it makes sense given location to the entire basin...

my #1 was belmont until last year's belmont stakes was taken over by 120,000 idiots who have never been to the races before and ruined it for the railbirds like myself, who love to spend a nice day at the races...now there are no more coolers allowed and we r forced to buy watered down piss water for $6 bux a clip.....no thanx...!!!since i am moving up to saratoga this summer...i will go with saratoga...santa anita(love that track)...del mar(i surf, so of course i have to put this one in)...lone star park.....and then monmouth...the boatride from the wall street pier in manhattan down to the atlantic highlands is one of summers great past times fer myself and my family and friends,,,,always a great day....

was at the belmont last year too cocktail. What a mess! At least my brother and I found a decent spot to check the races and have a few drinks. NYRA looking to spoil all of the fun with the no cooler policy. Anyways, I've still got my souvenier $2 win ticket on Smarty Jones. Think I could sell it for $1 on Ebay?
