for shits and giggles ill put the best nonbcs conference.

1. sec (yes even this year when it was way down)
2. big 12
3. pac 10 (think this conference will surprise)

4. big 10
5. acc
6. big east

best non bcs -- mountain west (ill be riding this conference a lot i think)

i have a big space between 3 and 4 because i think there is a big gap between the top and bottom 3.

No doubt that the Sec is down this year. You can debate that the top 3-4 teams in big 12 may be better than the top 3-4 in the sec(maybe) but the bottom eight teams in big 12 are just as mediocre to bad as sec bottom 8.I think you could rate either one of them 1-2.

1.) SEC

1.) Big 12

2.) PAC 10

2.) Big 11

3.) Big East

4.) ACC

*Note very carefully how I ranked this. I think it is much more accurate than trying to rank them 1-6. Also, you didn't ask that the non-BCS conferences be ranked, but I look for the Mountain West to make some waves in Bowl Season.

1. Big 12 (Okla, Okie St, Texas and Texas Tech...no debatable)
2. SEC (slightly down this year...Florida and Bama are outstanding....but Georgia and LSU being mediocre hurt the overall strength of the conference)
3. Big 11 (Big 11 is here mainly by default)
4. ACC (Collection of average teams - BC, Va Tech, UNC, Mary, The U)
5. Big East (not sure about the big east...UC is nt that good)
6. PAC 10 (USC is great...but the rest of the conference is putrid...UCLA is garbage...Cal and Oregon finished strong, Oregon St had a "nice season", but ASU was bad...having the two worst teams in the last 50 years - Wazzu & UW is what places the PAC 10 here...)

I think the SEC is number 1 until somebody proves it different. Because of their defensive numbers, the jury is still out on the Big 12. The ACC might be a bit underrated. They had some young teams this season that got better as the year went. And Clemson's easy win over South Carolina and Ga Tech's win over Georgia at the end of the season shows me that the top teams in their conference are pretty competetive. The PAC-10 was also a young conference this season. But this time of year with a full slate of games under their belts, these young talented teams could be dangerous in their bowl games. The Big East appears weak every year because nobody is head and shoulders above the rest. But this conference seems to do pretty well in their bowl games. Which is all that counts among us bettors. So I wouldn't totally dismiss this conference. The jury is also out on the Big 10. They haven't done well in their non conference games. But they also have a few teams that are getting alot of points in these bowl games. So even though they may not win, they may be able to cover some of these big spreads. I agree with SoonerBS about the Mountain West. They look by far the better conference than the WAC or the other non-BCS conferences.

1)BIG 12

2)ACC - winning record against the SEC and got a lot better towards the end of the season
2)SEC - Very top heavy conference LSU, Tenn, UGA, USC way down this year compared to what most thought
3)Big 10
3)Pac 10
6)Big East

This was an up year for a lot of the mid major conferences and a big time down year for most BCS conferences. The bowl games will shed more light and these rankings will change a little for me. When was the last time Tenn. lost to a team like Wyoming and Michigan loosing to Toledo...the list goes on and on

None of the conferences are strong this year though. Very down year in college football. Maybe 4 great teams, the rest are slightly above average at best. I still don't believe Tech or Ok St are that good, but just simply look great in a down year
