About a month since my last on line bet, then just quit smoking on Tuesday. 3 days and counting.

Which do you think is harder to do, for the long run?

I don't smoke but I would imagine smoking would be more difficult!

These cig. companies don't make billions without a reason!

Both are easy. Mind over matter.

Cigs would be tougher i think. One seems to be around them everywhere.

Good luck

In a sense you are always around gambling anytime you watch a game though.

I quit drinking 7 plus years ago.
I quit smoking just over 1.5 years ago.

I will NOT quit gambling. However, I may move to Nevada. Only wish I had someone that I knew there to guide me in some questions that I would not post here. (Maybe I'll even thank that asshole Kyl. Make no mistake, HE IS IN SOMEONE'S POCKET.)

quit smoking for sure. I did. It's fun when you're a teenager, but not anymore. When you realize you don't even enjoy it, you'll be able to stop.

Gambling, on the other hand, is fun.

You've got that right - I won't even date a smoker, since I got to see 2 uncles die of lung cancer and my father die slowly of emphysema, as well as finding the kissing of 'ashtray' quality. Not interested.

But smoking is tougher overall, because it is physically addictive to so many people, whereas gambling may be psychologically addictive but not nearly so many people have a pathological compulsion to gamble.

have quit smoking in the past (back on it now though)

Smoking is easier to quit than most people think. It is totally a function of your motivation and your environment.

But about quitting gambling..I COULD if I wanted to, but I have no desire to. It is as much a hobby to me as building model cars is to some people. Sure, I could drop it in a second, but I don't want to and probably never will. (Luckily my girlfriend is a gambler too, although she prefers casinos and poker games)

Never smoked or drank very much but tried to quite drinking coffee once. I wimped out and felt like I went from a 100 watt light bulb to a 60 watt. Need that caffeine fix.

Wish I could quit smoking. The cigs are killing me. Tried everything. Even hypnosis.

When you wake up every morning coughing and going up stairs leaves you winded and you get brochiits twice a year---you consider quitting.

I smoked 3 packs a day for a very long time. I have emphazema, but I can tell ya, quitting with a gimmick won't work. Cold Turkey--baby!
It gets better!

I would say smoking would be tougher than gambling to give up. I don't smoke but have seen too many people try to quit and not be able to. My Pop struggled with it for years but never was able to kick the habit completely. He smoked Camels and called them headbusters. "Run in there and get me a couple of packs of headbusters".

Thanks for the input guys. I'm on an online training, boring ass conflicts shit.

Still haven't made a bet (unless you count winning $200 in vegas --the mrs. lost 1,200).
8 days since my last cigarette. Toughest was day 2 (I just stayed in bed day 1 and didn't leave the house). My mind is still a little foggy, and I am having seious problems sleeping. Still its worth it (seeing all the shit I'm coughingn up out of my lungs) as my eldst boy (8 yrs old) is the most happy.

Good luck to all

Cold Turkey, btw
