I was unable to place anything on this, just saw it dangling there.

Just to recap, that was (1) the line Pinny was using; AND (2) an incorrect line. Everywhere else had 4.5 or 4. Pinny had Clemson 2.5 lay -115 when I made the post. The juice on Clemson actually drifted back down, making Clemson an even better bet.

Some people made some insightful posts in this thread, which deserve addressing. The poster who advised not to bet this line because they'll cancel the bet if you win, gave advice that would be good most of the time -- but wrong here. As another poster noted, Pinny was simply using that line (2.5). You have to be able to tell the difference between an obvious line error (which will get your bet canceled most likely), and when I site is purposely using a line that's off.

The comment about Pinny tempting you to take the wrong side is also wrong here. Even if that's what you think (wrong side/Pinny linemakers = the best in the business), with 4.5 widely available, the correct move here is to take Mich +4.5 AND Clemson -2.5 for as much as you can on each side. This way it doesn't matter what the correct side is -- you've got huge value in the 2 point middle!!!

This was not an incorrect line. Would it make you happier if they made the line Clemson -3.5 (-115). That line is "EXACTLY" the same as -2.5 (-115) when a team is down by 3 points. The game can't land on 3 and end in a tie. There was no 2 point middle.

Oh -- good point! I didn't even realize what the halftime score was, which is a good lesson here for me. Still a full 1 point middle though, against the widely available 4.5 lines that were out there. Still value, IMO, especially when the Pinny line came down to -2.5 -109 or so.
