For years we have been hearing how much better the SEC is better than any other conference and how if you put a good team from another conference into the SEC they would be middle of the road. Heres my question.

If the SEC is as good as people say, how does a middle of the road Big 12 team go to 2 consecutive SEC Championship games?

The only thing worse than SEC fans telling us how great the SEC is are when people try to makeup reasons why it isn't as good as everyone thinks it is.

It is the best CFB conf on a consistent basis

Additionally Missou was a team on the rise and won the big 12 north in 2007,2008 and 2010.
They continue to get disrespected.

Also not like Mizzou is some powerhouse in the SEC either. Just all the good teams were in the other 1/2 of the conf.

Cmon now

Question for SEC guys. Do you really like Vern Lundquist calling these games? I find myself wanting to ram a pick in my ear.

Wasn't Mizzou just last week a home dog against the last place SEC West team?

Exactly..........The SEC East has been generally weaker compared to SEC West since Urban Meyer left........I'm trying to remember the last time a SEC East Team actually won a SEC Title Game which only proves this......I just looked it up..........2008 was the last time a SEC East Team won the SEC Title Game (Urban Meyer's Florida team).....So Missouri benefitted from misplaced Geography. a lot weaker division, and Georgia blowing a few games per year.....

Mizzu was not exactly terrible before entering the sec. I believe they finished 3rd or 4 th in the nation 2 or 3 years before joining.
And I don't think anyone ever accused the sec east of being great.

Luck of the unbalanced conf schedule.

Mizzou got Arky and A&M in the crossover while Tennessee got Ole Miss and Bama on back to back weeks. No way Mizzou wins the SEC East if they had Tennessee's crossover games.

Don't like unbalanced conf schedules. Have no problem playing them but they should not count towards the division championship. Doesn't guarantee a true champion but possibly a lucky one who got to avoid some tough teams like Mizzou.

The difference between the SEC and other conferences is the rabid culture of the fan base accross the board.

Go to the Big-10 and compare Iowa or Minnesota fans to Ohio State fans. Big difference. Same thing with the other confs , there may be 5 or 6 teams in each conference where fans are rabid and have unrealistic expectations , but in the SEC 12 out of 14 schools have these type fans. .... Even Arkansas and Ole miss fans act like Bama or Florida fans.

obviously, Mizzu would not be in the SEC Championship game if they played in the SEC division that makes the SEC the best conference

did youse watch the game yesterday? (I don't blame you if you didn't, it was non-competitive)

Mizzu vs the highest rated teams in the SEC

Bama 13-42
Miss St N/A
Miss N/A
GA 0-34
Auburn N/A

So when playing a ranked team from the SEC, they're 0-2 and were outscored 76-13

The two crossover games they played in conference where against the SEC West's bottom two teams, that's how they play in the title game

reminds me of all that nonsense last week about the ACC going 4-0 vs the SEC. There was one quality win to be found, Tech's miracle win over GA. The other 4 games pitted the ACC's ranked teams, the ACC's "best" teams against the SEC's bottom feeders, with the ACC winning by 4, 5 and 18.

what would the results look like if the SEC's best teams played the likes of Cuse, NC St & Pitt? (tried to pick comparable teams with respect to conference standings)

Bama beats any of them by 40+, as opposed to FSU's 5 point win (the 5 points was a blowout for FSU this year)

Agreed Pats summed it up.

And just because the SEC had down years now & then, doesn't negate all other success...

What does that say about the established teams in the east? Georgia lost to their three biggest rivals and didn't play any of the power teams in the west, yet we are getting rammed down our throat about Georgia being a top 10-15 team. Georgia is basically Wisconsin south.

No matter what, the SEC East champs lost at home to Indiana. @):)
