Pitt runs the ball better, and stops the run better, and is a dog.
Atl runs the ball better, and stops the run better, and is a dog.
My questions are: How many times has this occured in conference
championship games, and what were the results?? What about Pitt
at home? I would assume their situation is a rarity..

What about the last time both Championship games were in the same state? Has that ever happened?

Well I do not know all about the run stats versus being a dog,

BUT this PITT game is very simular to BUFFALO at MIAMI back in I believe 92 or 93

BUFFALO was favored by 3 at MIAMI, and I remember talking to my great friend Chris, who is a Dolphin FAN, and I was STUNNED that MIAMI was a dog at HOME,

They lost, and Buffalo went the SB

also on a separate note

Conference championship games do not have the luster they once did. I guess it wa because it was the first 25 years of SB history, if your team made it to that game, it WAS A BIG DEAL......and a hurtful loss when you did not win

Now with more teams getting in, and the playoff set up. Unless you are a wild wild card that dominated in the playoffs , and make it all the way with strong road wins, the game is not that spectacular of an event.

Now Phillysteakandcheese, seems to making it a monumental affair, I mean if they lose they break the Cowboys record of 3 straight NFC conference losses, and I am OK with that.

Read that Div champ home dogs are 0-2 afc, 1-1 nfc, both ats and su. The last occurence was NYG over Minn 41-0. Still don't know about the rushing stats in those 4 games...

Here is what I managed to dig up. Only 1 time ever has the Pitt situation occured (home dog w/ better O rush and D rush stats). SF lost ats and su in '98 to GB.. In all 4 home dog conf champ games, the team with the better defensive yards per point given up stat (my favorite stat) has won every game ats and su. NE has the better dyppt this year.
Will try to dig up road dogs with better O and D rush stats later (for the Atl/Philly game), but Philly leads the league in dyppt, fwiw..
