As long as the player pays...over time...are you happy? or do you get mad when people bet more than they can afford, then they have to pay it back over time? my friend lost a TON this weekend and cannot pay it right now...is that ok if he has always paid when he had to? thanks.

No it's not ok for him to pay you when he can, because if he had won how would he like it if you said "sorry man i can pay you this weekend because i don't have all the money". It all depends on what mood you're in when the person approaches you and says that they don't have the money to pay you. Better have cutting him off and putting him on a payment plan and never allow him to bet again through you.

i have been dealing with all of my locals and they all have different veiws on this one a couple will just cut you off all togather until you pay a couple more will let you keep betting if you give them a big chuck of your losses at the end of the week and a couple will just take it out of your ass til you pay them everything you owe them

Of course they are not happy. They would rather have it all at once. However that just goes with the territory of being a local. It is a guarantee that this situation will happen if you are a local.I know several and all of them will put you on a payment plan and cut you off till you get caught up.The days of the bookie breaking your legs when you can't pay are not completly gone but they are just about.Due to the fact that most people would run to the feds in a second before having to pay.Now use violence as a way to collect and forget it the only thing you will see is jail time for extorion, illegal gambling charges, racketeering and whatever else they could pile on to the list.

So imo most will just put you on a payment plan and wait it out.

no problem.............

WORD TO THE WISE FOR THE LOCAL .........THAT WANTS TO CUT A DEAL WITH THE PLAYER...ie say the player owes 6k and says he can come with half......then ask if you will call it even..........NO NO NO NEVER EVER........make arrangements to pay the ENTIRE DEBT...

1. if he doesnt pay the entire debt, and continues to play that sets a precedent, when he owes a large figure he will try to settle half agian...

2. settle for half, and he may not ever play again (with you)

3. make him pay the full amount, and when he is flush again he will continue to play......everbodies happy........

If you bet and lose PAY UP!!!!!! There's nothing worse than people who don't pay up on time. When they win they are the first one in line to collect their money. When they lose the stories come out..."They cut back my hours at work"..."Some other guy owes me money and I'm waiting until he pays me"...and on and on. These people are complete pieces of sh_t in my book. Go back to school and learn math. Take the worse case scenario and assume all your plays are losers..if you can't afford to pay that amount..DON'T BET.

it happens all the time. player wins and he's calling for his balance on tuesday morning, player loses and he has a million and one excuses of why he's short and can't come up with the full balance. Cut them off and put them on some sort of plan and if they don't follow through on the agreement that was reached...start charging a couple of points interest until payment is made. if it becomes a pattern and the degenerate can't manage his bankroll, cut him off and take action from solid players only. the degenerates are usually pretty easy to spot.

You guys make it sound as tho it`s a one way street. It`s not!! In the days before O/S betting I bet with locals. I got stiffed more than once. Twice for over 10K. Both times we were up to date and it was only a wks action. They just disapeared. Never heard about one, the other left the state. So I started finding out where THEY lived. Glad I don`t have that hassle anymore. BTW I was in my 2nd and 3rd yr w/those 2.

You make a good point it happened to me several times when i used to put in plays to one guy he was supposed to put them in for me, but he pocketed the bets for himself and i won he lost. Then when it was time to collect he gives me some bs story. The funny thing is i knew he was pocketing the bets the whole time and i wanted to see what he would say when i won. I call up the loser and he says" i have bad news and good news, which one do you want to hear. He tells me he lost a lot of money on football with his friend and he will clear me up after the superbowl, the following week. Then he tells me you can still put in bets with him and if i want he can give me some of his hockey picks. How can someone be so stupid, does he actually think im going to put money on his hockey picks from a guy who owes me money and can't pay. He thought with the superbowl i would lose it all and along with his hockey picks, i feel sorry for this guy. Too many guys out there that like to play the role, you know guys that give themselves nicknames and wear their leather jackets, fu(ken pathetic losers. Like i said if it was up to me an eye for an eye is the best way to cleanse the earth with scum like this.

So for those who had issues collecting, did you guys ever get paid or pretty much wrote it off. I was owed about 6 dimes about 7 months ago from a "friend" of a "friend." Never received a penny. Decided to make his lie miserable by redirecting his mail, putting his house up for sale, posting a garage sale, turned off his electricity and water. apparently, it didn't work, but I had fun. I feel the reponsibility should be on the middle man.

yes, obviously there are bad locals out there and if you beat them they'll close up shop, change numbers, etc to avoid paying. similar to the scammers in the offshore biz, they thrive off of making the quick buck and could give a rats arse over who they're stiffing. My advice would be to find a guy or group who's been involved with numbers for a long time and have a clean track record, just like you would when sending $$ offshore. Most legit locals located within a certain geographic area know eachother and talk often and can vouch for eachother.

Identity, if your friend has a decent relationship with his guy and has a good payment history they'll put him on a plan and when he's done paying up...everything will be back to normal(maybe they'll reduce his limits). I'll guarantee this isn't the first time they've had someone go bust chasing...it's the way most locals make their bread. good luck

ID,
I take back what I said earlier about wanting your local to let me have your action.... I've seen enough deadbeats in my time, I don't need anymore. If you were a little cuter he might let you work it off but I know there's no chance of that. Just pay the man and stop betting over your head.
