Don't buy anything yet. Wait and see if we are indeed heading for a severe down leg.

Google "online broker reveiws" and find one that suits you. I use OptionsXpress and I like them just fine.

If the Dow goes down again, stocks like JNJ, WMT, KO, CSCO, PG will be screaming buys. The question isn't whether or not GM will survive, it's what happens to their shareholders. Only allocate a very small portion of your money to speculative stocks like that. F is the best long term bet between the two, IMO.

Research, research, research. I probably spend 40 hours a week reading about and watching the markets. If you don't know what you are doing, you will go broke.

If you have any questions, you can post them in the sell, sell, sell thread and someone will answer. Of the regular posters there, I'm probably the least knowledgeable but I'll try to help you any way I can.

I second everything DEC told you.

Although this is probably not a good time to buy, this is a great time to learn. Follow the sell, sell, sell thread like DEC said. Tiz has been it's major contributor. He is very knowledgeable. Maybe you could go back and read, read, read. QL's investment thread is worth looking in on. And although SSI is trading in options contracts, which is a stepsister to the stock market, he is working really hard daily to get some of us onboard with option trading. He's done very well.

Like sportsbetting the stock market ain't easy. Learn now and position yourself to buy when it's pretty clear that we have bottomed out. That could very well be a long time away.

Good luck.

If BAC hits the $5.00 level...buy. The majority of their problems have been factored in, along with MLynch. 1 in 5 Americans has an account with them. They will be back....despite all efforts by the current adminsitration to handicap them.

Diversify, but that is the one financial I would buy..and hold on to

We don't know what BAC's CRE liabilities are yet. The only financial I could recommend is JPM, but when the CRE, auto, and cc shit hits the fan, they are going to be pulled down with the rest of the banking stocks.

Again, I say wait unless you're buying gold or silver.
