At Olympic the Lakers ML is -550 but Lakers -8 buy it down to -1/2 and it's -400 or buy 9.5 to +1.5 and it's -520.

What am I missing?

willwalk, if this is exactly the case you are not missing anything...

sometimes during the NHL series in a game 7 at OLYMPIC you could get better odds betting on a certain team to win the SERIES than you would get on that same team to win the game. Of couse this was ridiculous as they were game 7's....& the team that won the game would by default win the series...I saw up to 20 cents better in that case at the same shop...

I guess the linesmaker was not s sharp or the sotware does not really allow it...

You can only buy a point in most books, any book that lets you buy more than one point does not understand the math behind it. I am guessing that most bookmakers do not understand the value of points. One bookmaker that knows it better than anyone has to be asap. If he lets you do it you are getting way the worst of it.

Thanks SS,

The offshore big boys usally don't miss a trick. I figured I had to be missing something. I locked in at:

Jun 4 2:31pm Basketball - Pending 2800.00 to win 777.78
1. Basketball - Los Angeles Lakers - spread -1(-360) for the entire game held on Jun 6 at 8:05pm [pending]

Barring the one point win/push, it beat's the hell outta the ML. It still doesn't seem right.

Is the moneyline on Detroit high enough to create a overlay by betting Detroit on the moneyline and buying Lakers down to minus one half at -400?

If Detroit is at least +400 then there should be at least a free shot....anything more than Detroit +400 would be break even, should the Lakers win, or make money in the case of a Detroit win...

What about buying the Lakers down to minus one half at -400, and taking Detroit +8......gives you about an eight point middle....too risky?

Marco, that ain't horse and buggie think...or since DET ML is +425 and LAL -8, buy it to LAL +1.5 it's -520.

So 5 units on LAL on the buy and 1 unit on DET get you the improbable but possible 1 point middle.

Now if I only had enough disposable income to make it worth my while.
